It was pretty packed today, CM at the Fantasyland Mad Hatter warned that Easter Sunday should hit capacity......Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,it's what they are like in their HEART!

Capacity at the parks is a number that is always in flux.... it is based on attractions open, and open space in the parks. (Fire Marshall rules).... It has been as low as under 70,000, but with most attractions open, it is closer to 80,000 (if not a bit higher)... Now, when Space Mountain is open, and all other attractions are up and running without any major construction, we should get close to 85,000, though it might be less depending on the current Anaheim Fire rules...Check out my Theme Park Photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

We spent last week at the Parks and were happy that the crowds were about at a moderate level. As we were checking out of the DL Hotel friday (after a fine breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen), the Bellmen were going crazy with a long line of cars waiting to pull in and unload. We were happy to get the heck out of there at that point...
Our next trip is in June. I don't even want to think about the crowds then.

I would say attendance is way up from last year. Also as far as the numbers go I think it is just more of a inside thing nothing having to do with world security. Most theme parks keep there numbers private, just a bit of pride.

Originally posted by SuperDisneyDadDoes anyone know if attendance is up on average over last year? If so, I think Matt Ouimet and team deserves a lot of credit for the increase.
Revenues at Parks and Resorts increased 21%, or $1.3 billion, to $7.8 billion... $609 million from the Walt Disney World Resort, and $95 million from the Disneyland Resort.
At the Disneyland Resort, increased revenues were primarily due to higher guest spending at the theme parks and hotel properties.
Across our domestic theme parks, attendance increased 7% and per capita guest spending increased 6% compared to the prior year. Attendance and per capita guest spending at the Walt Disney World Resort increased 10% and 4%, respectively. Attendance at the Disneyland Resort remained flat while per capita guest spending increased 7%
And here is what he said at the end of the Fiscal 2004 year...
Disneyland Resort had high single digit declines in attendance during the 4th Quarter (July thru September 2004). Mr. Staggs states that the cutbacks in discounting is the main reason for the attendance drops.
And so far during 1st Quarter 2005 (October and early November 2004), there have been modest attendance declines at the DLR.
Now, what is happening in 2005? Well, the "pay for Disneyland, get DCA for FREE!" aka 2fer, which was not offered in the fall of 2004 (they tried a dioscount on a one day ParkHopper instead) is back, along with a new set of advance purchase discounts, which resulted in the lowest price ever for a 3 day ParkHopper (discoutns good thru late April, 2005.
Should be interesting in what Disney reveals about the 2nd Quarter attendance (January thru March 2005) will be... Discounting had to help, especially for DCA with the 2fer ticket that creats those DCA turnstyle clicks, but then all the rain we have been getting had to hurt....Check out my Theme Park Photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

How has removing FP from attractions like HM and Porates helped with the "crowded" feeling of the park? I know the goal in removing it was to make walkways feel less jam packed.
