  • Ok WHAT episode is the TOT movie FROM!?

Let me explain my question better.

On TOT you walk into the library and see the little 2 minute movie about the history of the hotel and elevator and Rod Serling introduces the Freight Elevator with the phrase "Tonight's story is a bit unique and requires a different introduction"

That is from an episode and I can't for the life of me remember which one it is. I'm about to do an internet search but I'm pretty familiar with most of the Twilight Zone episodes. But I'll search anyway.

Anyone know which episode this Rod Serling intro is from? He did introduce an actual episode with that intro because just before he points and says "freight elevator" in the movie for the ride, it cuts him out and its just his voice which is impersonated.

    It's from

    "It's a good life"

the one about the young boy with the power to make his thoughts come true.

The line went, "This, as you may recognize, is a map of the united states"

In it the only one who can reason with the boy is his teacher. Rod Sterling wrote it in memory of Helen Foley who was his teacher. He said that she could reach him like no one else could.

heh... my wife grew up in Binghamton, NY... she LOVES the Twilight Zone and now, by extension, so do I.

      Meh.
      1. Helen Foley name is from another episode, "Nightmare as a Child."
      2. The movie version of this story used Helen Foley as the teacher, but the original TZ episode did not.
      3. The opening is from "It's a good life," as you say. The rest of it you just made up to piss off TZ fans. I'm calling your wife as we speak to discuss this balderdashization of TZ...

I've had nightmares about a sensuous girl trying to get me to go on California Screamin'. They're so scary that I haven't slept in six days...

Yes, Helen Foley's name isn't used, but according to the Rodster himself the teacher character is baised on her.

That is why they use her name in the movie.

How do I know this? I visted the Helen Foley memorial Theater in Binghamton. They also have a memorial for the episode "Walking Distance" which pays tribute to his home town and childhood.

It was never an entire episode but one of the lost ones. The reference to rob is from the episode "It's a good life".

Is it possibly "An Incident at Owl Creek"?

No, the intro is from "It's a Good Life":

Possibly, but since her name was used before in an original episode, I assume that it's for the same reason, and 23 years before the movie.

Also, I'm not sure how Rod Serling knew anything about or had any say in "TZ: The Movie," since he was dead for about 10 years before it was filmed.

And, there wasn't a teacher character in the original, "It's a Good Life."

Billy Mumy does a good job on all his TZ episodes.

And, he's in the "TZ: The Movie" episode, "It's a Good Life," as well.

And Carol Serling plays a passenger on the final movie episode.

He also plays the young Pip in "In Praise of Pip" with Jack Klugman as the father he wishes he could have been, on hearing the news of his son wounded in Vietnam.
