  • Disneyland Clearance Center?

  • #2
They have these around Cali- I have ssen them before, in malls and stuff. Its not a new thing to my knowledge, I believe the Park routinely does this to get rid of old merchandise and make room for new stuff.

They pop up and last about 60-90 days then go on to the next spot. They have a disclaimer in the store that says that they are not a part of Disney. Most of their merchandise is seasonal and from last season. They also have blemished items. Lots of stuffed characters, shirts, toys, etc...

A good place for a deal, but sold as-is with no refunds/exchanges.

They seem to always be busy.

heard about one of these in the Birdcage mall area in Sacramento
I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.
That explains the trouble that I'm always in...

Dirton- They are called Disney's Character Warehouse Outlet Store, there is also one in Fullerton right down the street from Disneyland.

The one you saw in Bridcage has been there for a few weeks. It closes on April 23rd.
Last year there were 2 of them, one in Woodland & Hayward.

I think they have an offical site, they come to NorCal every few months.

One came to CO- a couple years back. I got on their mailing list but I haven't seen anything from them- probably a good thing since I spent about $300 there last time.

This is the kind of stuff Iger should clean up. you wonder why the dsiney brand keeps slipping in the polls, it's the cheapening of the brand opne plush at a time. Let's hope clearance means Eisner and the board!

Yes, there are a few of these stores around California states near CA. Generally they pop up when disney sells off large ammounts of overstock/rejected merchandise for cheap. Owners of these little stores usually take out small leases on large stores and try to make a quick buck. Merchandise at these stores is always overstock (generally unpopular merch) and sometimes damages/rejected, so when you see those low prices, beware.

The store -- Character Warehouse -- in Fullerton is a permanent store and is about 10 minutes up Harbor Blvd. from DL. It is owned by a liquidating company AMS, that also opens temporary stores all over. They had one in Commerce recently and last year they had one in the Prymm (Nevada) outlets off I-15 on the way to Las Vegas. They've had them as far away as Oregon,North Carolina and Michigan. They are in no way affiliated with Disney. They buy Disney merchandise for pennies on the dollar and sell it at discounted prices (on average about 30-40% off original retail). They have a website somewhere ... sure you could do a search for it.

The Disney outlet stores in Florida are entirely different. They are owned and operated by WDW parks and resorts. They are staffed with CMs. They operate under the names 'Character Premiere' and 'Character Warehouse' depending on location (there are two in the Beltz Outlets in Orlando, one in the Lake Buena Vista Premium Outlets -- closest to WDW, as well as locations in St. Augustine, Sunrise and Miami). The merchandise at these outlets is usually (but not always) better than the Cal. outlets. Sometimes it is the same stuff they have in the parks at the time at regular price. Prices range from full-price on most pins and DVDs to as much as 80% off some items. The stores in SoFla have recently added a lot of collectables from Art of Disney at Epcot and from Disney Auctions. Once in a while you'll even see DL and DCL merchandise as well.

My fondest memory of Walt Disney was the day Disneyland opened....I was standing next to him - I was 12 years old - he was looking at the gate where people were coming through, he had his hands behind his back, he had a grin from ear to ear, but you could see the lump in his throat and the tear coming down his cheek because his dream had been realized. -- Mouseketeer Sharon Baird, "Mouseke-Memories", Walt Disney Treasures: The Mickey Mouse Club

Ohhhh man I love these shops. It comes to the outlet mall here every year or so and boy do I enjoy it. They have LOTS of stuff; some stuff that's still available in the parks and sometimes it's so horribly cheap you just HAVE to buy it.

Here is a link (that I found at MouseSavers.com) where you can get a 10% off coupon for the Fullerton store (which is near an In-n-Out!)

And here is the link to the AMS website...
