wow I never new that WDW took out AE!!! that sucks. glad I was able to ride it. yeah the ride was not very disneylike (heck an alien eating a "cast member" and having blood dripping on you). but that didn't mean the ride sucked, in fact it was one of the best rides I've ever been on. shame to know it's gone, and replaced by a cartoon.

Alien encounter belonged at the park... It had warnings.. but families would still take small children afraid on it.. and then file a complaint... hence why stitch came.. then more complaits later we get a Tame stitch version...
Alien encounter at DL would work.... they are competing for the people to come to the park.. and this would attract a crowd.....
Too bad it wouldn't fit the California Theme at all... or else it could go next door...

The oblong decoration was originally a back lit panel stating the wonders that you would find in Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars. I believe it said, "See the McDonnel Douglas mission control center" or something like that

Long article... I sorta agree with some people, that show AE doesnt belong in WDW, or DL, the happiest place on earth, that is well... seeming to be the darkestI would think this ride would belong somewhere like Universal Studios.. Imagine going on a small world, then you step in there and WHAM! What a change? Happy ride, happy ride, happy ride, EVIL, happy happy happy... it's out of place in DL and WDW

Alien Encounter was awesome! I'm soooo glad that I had a chance to see it a few times while working in Orlando. The Stitch version is awful in my opinion. ...but maybe I feel that way because I got to experience AE a few times. Stitch's Escape is a very watered down, jokey retrofit of AE using all the technology but drastically dumbed down big time!
Thanks for the link Coaster3001. That Jim Hill is good. ...very good!

I wouldn't really say "too bad"...it was not very popular which is why it only lasted 8 years...I never really liked it, not that Stitch is an improvement.

Does anyone know what that window was there for?
And does anyone have a picture of it?
