Tahitian Terrace?

I was never lucky enough to go to this famous yesterland restaraunt.

I was just curious, if anyone has any fun stories about this place, if somebody wants it back and how to do it, etc.

Well It's been a LONG time since the last time I was there, but I remember that I really liked it. I loved the dancing, the fire, Oh wait- that was "Backdraft: The Musical" No Seriously though I remembered that the floor show included a waterfall that opened up and the dancers made their entrace through it. There was lots of camp, but really cool too. I would choose it over the Aladdin thing they have now.

There's a Lot of people who would like it back, myself included. The meal was pretty bland, but the show more than made up for it. I especially liked the fire dancers!

Oh, it was the girls. The girls, the girls, the girls, definitely. I still remember the sweet smiling face of this one Tahitian dancer that I was just smitten with when I was, what, 10 or so? This had to have been in the mid-to-late 1970s. She had such an ebullient smile, it just made me all gushy and I swooned (yes indeed, I swooned) at her beauty. Eisner is the Devil Incarnate for taking such a joy away from a generation of young boys.

TT is not coming back....at least not anytime soon. Even if the current administration wanted it, they would have to bring the kitchen area back up to code. It has recently been rendered unusable by city officials.

My only visit was on my 6th birthday many eons ago. All I remember was that the food was "unusual". To be honest, I have very few memories of that day (or of being 6 years old in general).

I'm not really interested in what "the current administration" wants, I'm interested in what I want. And I want the Tahitian Terrace back. If Disney knows what's good for them and for their bottom line, they'll please me.

We often talk about the Tahitian Terrace when we walk past it, remembering the show. Great memories! We went often and always enjoyed it.

Hey, was the food really that bad? Teriyaki chicken breasts or something like that. I remember liking it, but then as a teen I was less picky about food. There was a sort of fruit-flavored punch that we always liked, but then it was probably chock full of sugar and that's why we liked it.

The more Disney-fied show with Goofy later on was pretty good, but part of the fun of the original show is that it was so different than the other Disney entertainment.

I think that in its early days (60's and 70's) its menu might have been considere 'exotic'. Of course now Stouffers and Healthy Choice offer those kind of entrees frozen. Its very mainstream now. And as long as something is trendy and new, it can get away with being mediocre in quality.

There's always the posibility of updating the menu to incorporate a more "Pacific Rim" or "Asian Fusion" type menu a la Pick up Stix with some of the retro entrees with updated twists. Items that won't scare off Aunt Marlys from Peoria, but also may pique the interest of Confirmed Bachelor Uncle Adam and his live in roomate, Steve who recently completed thier set of Food Network Celebrity Chef Cookbooks...

...and I'd personally really like to see some souviener tiki mugs out of the project, similar to the ones Shag devleoped for the Tiki Room's 40th. Gosh I miss that waterfall curtain...
