  • "The Spirit of Disneyland" Attractions

Do you feel there are a couple of attractions at DL that symbolize the park, and what it stands for? The ones you can't imagine the park without?

Which ones would you say are "The Spirit of Disneyland" Attractions?

    My picks:
    • The Castle.
    • The Matterhorn
    • It's a Small World
    • Pirates of the Caribbean
    • The Haunted Mansion
    • The Jungle Cruise
    • The Walt Disney Story / Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
Any others you can think of?

How about the one attraction that binds all the others together: The Disneyland Railroad

Great post! I would vote for Main Street, although I'm not really sure its an "attraction". I just can't imagine Disneyland without it.

        Splash Mountain.

It embodies the spirit of Walt Disney Imagineering in the 1980s, when Eisner and Wells had the Walt Disney Company under control - creativity was flowing, everything was going the right way. Some great stuff was coming out of WDI, and this is one of the best in recent years.

Splash Mountain has a wonderful storyline, fantastic music, great visual effects (the colours remind me of the wonderful sequences in The Little Mermaid and The Lion King), and of course the thrilling drop. It is fun for the entire family, does not attract a specific demographic, and is classic Disney. Classic Disneyland.

All of the Disneyland Mountains are very important to the "spirit of Disneyland"

          - Matterhorn Bobsleds
          - Space Mountain
          - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
          - Splash Mountain

Also - all of the Major E-Tickets
          - Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room
          - Jungle Cruise
          - Indiana Jones Adventure
          - Pirates of the Caribbean
          - The Haunted Mansion
          - "it's a small world"
          - Autopia

Also -all of the classic Fantasyland attractions.

Also - The Disney Gallery, Walt Disney Store featuring "Great Moments with Mr Lincoln," Main Street Cinema..

And.. The Submarine Voyage Lagoon - empty or not was very important, at least to me, becuase it was just really beautiful. Now that Subs will be going through it again it will be very important to the "spirit of Disneyland"

Gwarsh, that's almost the entire park.

My picks for the spirit of Disneyland, are not necessarily the most attractions- but, well....no particular order.

            1. Enchanted Tiki Room
            2. it's a small world
            3. Haunted Mansion
            4. Pirates of the Caribbean
            5. Dumbo

Each attraction is iconic of Disneyland, still exists, can be enjoyed by the entire family- young and old, and was under the direction of Walt himself.

i agree with all of that, except for some reason i always think of the Tiki Room to go right along with rides/attractions like those. so i cant really see the tiki room leaving, it would be horrable! i think ill also include King Arthurs Carousel.
