I am a fanatic about Disneyland history. I read anything I can get my hands on about Disneylands land procurement, construction, opening and subsequent operation over the years. Recently, it occured to me that some people may be indifferent to Disneylands past. Let us know how you feel about it.

The history is fun personally as it's nostalgic in a way, but there is a bigger reason to be interested.
The history of the park is important in that you can measure the scale of the creative breakthrough and impact the park made on popular culture. This benchmark of guest service, breakthrough creativity and excellent quality makes the park's history and traditions crucial to anyone gifted with the stewardship of the Walt Disney Company. I'm only 26 and didn't grow up in Southern California so I didn't get to grow up with the park. I do however love the park and being able to go back and see how the park has grown and evolved in 50 years. I have several of the old wall maps of the park (I love maps) just seeing what rides were where in the days prior to my being able to be there is just fun for me. I also love being able to see some of the old attractions on dvd as well with the extinct attractions dvds.

I have an old friend who worked for Disney back before it opened, and his stories are fascinating.
Equally interesting to me are the logistics of everything that has to happen to make the cogs work over there--just managing the inventory and its movement back and forth (with so little on-site storage) makes D-Day seem trivial by comparision.
