  • Complete Furburbishment of Mickey's Toontown?

Don't get me wrong - I like the whimsy of Mickey's Toontown and it's many great photo ops (and it's much better than Mickey's Toontown Fair in MK). But it seems that now the only thing I can do in MT is to take pics and then leave. Gadget's Go Coaster always has a 40 min. wait for a less than 40 sec. ride; and I really don't like Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin (which also always has long lines and breaks down.) Then there's Chip n' Dale Treehouse and Donald's Boat (enough said, right?) Another thing I don't understand is when Goofy's Bouncehouse closed and then reopened as Goofy's Play Area or whatever it is now. (Looks the same to me, just wo/ the mats inside.) I think MT needs to be expanded or certainly improved on. It's j/ too crowded and full of partially closed/open attractions (you can't even walk up the stairs on Donald's Boat). And Gadget is so unpractical...and who remembers Gadget from the 90s anyway???

And then there's the Jolly Trolley...just when you think it's gone for good...it comes back again.........

If I could play around with the area, I'd have the Jolly Trolley roam around again, rip out several of the "houses" and since the lawyers have come in and ripped the fun out of them (though I'd leave Goofy's there so the really tiny tots have something to do while the parents can sit down). Then to replace what was ripped out, I'd stick a House of Villians dark ride (and if it could be worked out, a House of Mouse restaraunt just outside).

As for Gadget's, I'd either make it a longer and more interesting ride, or just get rid of it and use it for more new ideas.

i would love to see toontown fixed up to its past glory...but even better would be to see a brand new major e-ticket built in that area....now that would be cool

As discussed on this board to death, a new E ticket doesn't make economic sense. I know little kids love Goofy's, and the meet Mickey in his house experience really is fun and a great opportunity for people, but I agree - I'd really like to see something totally different than the crowded run down mess Toon Town has become.

House of Mouse-type restaurant/show would be awesome. I remember I read in another thread about an idea of playing old classic Disney shorts featuring the gang throughout the place. I think that would be a really neat idea. They should definetly replace Donald's boat, Chip & Dale's useless tree house, and Gadget's Go-Coaster. They could make a new tree house for Chip and Dale (one that actually lets you do stuff on it instead of climbing up and down stairs), and maybe something for Pluto and Pete?

I say tear the whole land down
Push back some of those offices that can go to another property
And bring back all those old rides that we love!!!

I agree. Let's knock it all down and put in some quality e-ticket attraction. Who cares about where the "little ones" will play? That's what McDonalds Playlands are for, located in every town in America.

Toontown has the highest potential for refurbishment. Lots of unused and empty space. Make it feel more like a "town" than just a few houses in a hill.

Oh and give the Trolley more space to roam!
There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

I think they should make Gadget's Go Coaster go twice around. But then it would be an 80 min. line for a minute and a half ride! But they should at least refurbish it, and rename it, retheme it! They could turn it in to the Goofy's Bardtorming Roller Coaster like at MG in WDW.
                  Still wishing for that AP....

It'd be great. They could do it like the Sci-fi Diner in WDW, by having a repeating loop of Mickey Mouse cartoons. They could have a loop a few hours in length so it does not repeat with a few animatronic characters to introduce blocks of cartoons.

DLFreak71 You just can't remove all those buildings. They are the storage and backstage area. You need them to run the rest of the park. Heck, where would they launch the fireworks from if that space was gone?

While I would love to see some improvements to the toontown area keep in mind that one of the reason that it was built was to remove some the pressure that was going on in Fantasyland. Can you imagine how crowed with strollers and small kids Fantasyland would be if there wasn't a toontown?

While Toontown is not "teenager" friendly location, that doesn't mean it doesn't server the needs of Disneyland guests. It is a great space for very young ones to explore and run around.

Bwah! I think it's what happens the very first time. After that, everything is a re-furbishment.

Also, it has nothing to do with furnishings. )
