  • NO WINE at the BLUE BAYOU?

I just found out that there will be no wine at the Blue Bayou. Is that true?
I will find it hard to buy a $35.00 filet with a sprite, please tell me this isnt true! What do my fellow chatters think?

It's a public restaurant in a theme park. Go to Granville's or Morton's if in Orange County for a steak.

Apparently not, and I think I know why...Walt didn't want alcohol served in the original park; so, I guess they're just withstanding his wishes.

You'd think they'd have some kind of Alcho-beverage in such and expensive resturant. I do understand them nmot wanting to have it in DL. Good thing Downt town Disney is only a short walk out and then back in!

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

Re: NO WINE at the BLUE BAYOU?

Wow, thats not the response I thought I would get. Maybe you guys dont eat at fine dinning restaurants very often, but in every fine dining restaurant in the world, the chefs will pair thier entree's with wine! It just seems a little low class to me to pay $100.00 for dinner for two and not be "allowed" to have a glass of wine with dinner!
And by the way I was well aware that Disneyland is a theme park, I go there all the time, and across the way at another disney theme park, you can have wine with dinner! just to let you know that it does happen. And they have served alcohol at Disneyland since club 33 opened and continue till this day. FYI

We know this, but Walt wanted Club 33 to be exclusive, private....etc. Basically just for him, remember he was a big drinker and smoker! The rest of the Park was created for the entire family to enjoy!

I don't actually know the reason that they don't have alcohol... I really think that they would make a bundle off of it. I think that maybe they figure DL is more child filled as apposed to DCA. That could be a reason. They'd rather have drunk people at DCA? Dunno.

I'd LOVE it if they had a "Night time" Tiki Bar that served adult drinks... that would rule. Deluxe. "One Enchanted Dole WHip FLoat for me please!"

Re: NO WINE at the BLUE BAYOU?

Blue Bayou has never served alcohol. As Wolfy stated Club 33 is a private club. It's not considered part of the "public" part of the park. As for DCA, it's not Disneyland. It's the same at WDW. No alcohol at Magic Kingdom.

As for having a good steak with wine, I understand that completely, but again, never had alcohol at Blue Bayou. Sad, but true.

And I think people were trying to say that if you wanted wine with your meal, there were other places to get that in the resort.

Are you crazy, I'm talking about adults having wine at a fine dining restaurant (suposedly). Walt would be fine with this, you would know that if you ever read his auto biography, in fact Walt felt a little trapped by the perception that he was entirely "G" rated.
But thats not the point, its about having some class, If you say your going to be the finnest restaurant of any disney property, well you have to serve wine with your $30.00 entrees. IMHO

There is no booze in Disneyland. Sorry. I like a good glass of wine with my dinner too, but am willing to accept Walt's rules. I'd love to have a nice Merlot with my pork loin at BB too. That's why... until my Club 33 membership comes through... I dine at Uva Bar.

by the way my responses are out of sync so please dont take my responses personnally, I just think that wine with dinner should be a no brainer, and before I get flamed about his auto biography, Im talking about something his wife wrote about him after his death. I can find it if you want, but I think I got my point accross. Well O.K. then, I'll shut up and have a pepsi with my $35.00 entree. So as not to piss any one off! *Backs away from thread, shaking head, wondering what kind of people dont have a glass of wine, while shelling out big bucks for a high end dinner*

That said, if they really won't be serving wine or beer (which is a simple add-on to the upstairs FULL LL, and would take 60days at the *most* to approve under OC&CA regs), I would hope they could at least serve a decent cup of coffee or tea. I HATE soda, or crummy nestle coffee/tea with dinner. Meh....
