  • Gas Price Advisory for those driving to and from the DLR

THAT WOULD BE "ADVISORY"...gotta prufe read those thread titles (lol)

I just thought I'd pass a long a tip for those that drive more than just a few miles to get to and from the Disneyland resort. Angels games or Convention Center/Arrowhead Pond events too for that matter. Or Knott's Berry Farm, etc...

A Los Angeles all-news radio station (KFWB News 980) provides an hourly update of the cheapest gas prices in Southern California...and the Arco station on Euclid Street, near Century Boulevard and Trask in Garden Grove, routinely is among the cheapest...last night, they reported 2.95 per gallon self-serve regular ( a relative deal here, folks)...

For those that don't know, the station is less than ten miles southwest of the resort...from DL probably the 57 South to the 22 (Garden Grove Freeway) west...the "Orange Crush" interchange as we call it...about three miles or so west to Euclid Street...turn right and it's within a block or so.

Could be worth the few minutes out of your way.

    Hope this helps.

    -- Barry

PS...as you pass Century Boulevard pause a moment and reflect on the fact that you are a mere 100 yards away or so from the house where I spent my formative years...honor that thought as you see fit...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Re: Gas Price Advsory for those driving to and from the DLR

    Thanks for the tip.

Actually though, from what we saw on the road during our stay at the DLR all last week, not too many people are worried about the price of fuel.

The I-5 looked like an RV and boat show. You literally could see one after the other from Stockton all the way down to the Grapevine. RV's and boats of all shapes and sizes.

SUV's speeding past us at 90 MPH (and we are in an SUV as well). Big vans, small vans, it didn't matter, they were all on the road going somewhere.

    Maybe Disneyland???

I live in Southern California, and higher gas prices are a pain, but two places that help, but members only are COSTCO, which is open to the public, but with a year $40 membership (cheaper gas and free samples), and I've seen for people who have military passes and gas privelages, they (the bases with services for living) have usually 20 cents cheaper gas than cheapest. I just don't know how people do it know adays with giganto SUVS and trucks, they dwarf my little Corolla, but my 35 mile a gallon average trumps their 7 mpg. But It seemed cheaper in LA and Orange county than San Diego last time I was up in that area.

(Barry: fixed the title for ya)

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

ARCO is always a good deal....

I wonder what they put in it.....

I know there was one Up here in NorCal called "Eagle" Gas.... you saved up to .15 a gallon, but the repairs to your engine every few years were murder.

I always go to the Shell on Chapman and Haster-- routinely a few cents cheaper than anyone else, and the least out of the way. Otherwise, the Mobil on Chapman and Brookhurst is good too

We have been paying between $3.10 and $3.20 the last few weeks.

I never thought I'd say "It's only $3.10 a gallon there" and be happy about it.
