  • Yay we're here!!

When you when to Disneyland when you were young. What was the thing that made you most exited to see when you got there or close to it.

Mine, seeing the Mattahorn from the five freeway. I would get so exited and get my secont wind (after our 7 hour drive). that was by far the thing that made it official, we where at Disneyland.

For me it was the freeway exit...DISNEYLAND. We had made it! It's almost like driving to a barbecue and smelling wondeful foods as you drive in. You could just FEEL the magic, Disneyland was so overflowing with it.

Riding the tram from the parking lot to the main gate..the stinky smell of diesel, the sounds of other kids screaming and plotting out all the tasty rail locations..ahh good times

Well when I was younger I lived in Arizona, and we usually drove to Disneyland at night. So by the time we got there it was very late at night, sure I was exhausted. But I just had to see the Disneyland sign for it to be official that I was there.

hehe GA- we did the same thing- when they had the old "Happiest Place on Earth" sign up, seeing that did it for me. After working there, I didn't get as excited anymore, but I think taking the Ball Road exit and making that left turn into the lane that says "Mickey and Friends Parking Structure" is as good as it gets anymore.

It is the most Wonderful thing when you start to see Biilboards with Disneyland on them. I realize I'm that much closer after driving 400 miles. It is nice once I see the Monorail go by and Hollywood Tower glowing in the night. It is a welcome sight to go..aaaahhh (exhales)

Ooh it was ALL about seeing the Matterhorn from the 57 freeway! Good stuff! Still thrills me after all these years! Like a beacon in the night!

Stepping on main street, hearing the music, then seeing the castle in the distance. When I was a kid, that always gave me tears of joy, still kind of does.

It was always seeing space mountain at the end of the parking lot and the monorail passing by above. The other thing was seeing the matterhorn from the freeway, I would get SO EXCITED! I don't anymore, but that's just because I'm older.

                        good times, good times.
Did you hear about the three blondes who were driving to Disneyland?
After being in the car for hours, they saw a sign that said "Disneyland left" so they turned around and went home.

Obviously you know you're there when you see the Matterhorn/ToT, but I usually get the "we're almost there" jitters when we pass the Citadel shopping center.

The Citadel. Is that the huge castle looking place on the left side of the freeway going south?

If so, yeah, the kids know we are only a few minutes away at that point and start getting ready to get out and enjoy what's in store for them for the next few days...
( I can hear the seatbelts unclicking at that point too).
