I just heard that they will now be redoing Autopia for the new Pixar cars movie. Is this true? Please say it isn't so!!

No, I think that would be a contract violation with Cheveron, because the cars are supposed to be the cheveron cars from the popular comercials. If they did replace it with pixar cars, then cheveron would have no reason to keep on supporting and sponsering the ride.

^ It would not suprise me one little bit. The only thing that concerns me with the on-going "Pixarisation" of the parks is when it doesn't fit thematically (hmmm, is that even a word?!?!)
Personally, I think a "Cars" attraction belongs in DCA - you can at least somehow tie that in as an LA freeway and with a fun cartoon theme it could be quite neat. If they did that though, I'd like it to be a bit ala Test Track. Heck, if they can do Monsters Inc in a Hollywood themed back lot, Cars in DCA to me would be a no brainer.
The type of attraction that Autopia is does not fit the standard of Attraction I would expect from Disney. You can find those type of rides in any Theme Park around the world. Personally I'd prefer to see them scrap it, put Cars in DCA & reserve the space left behind for some kick ride.I'm just a bit more than Just Really Nice!

But it would make sense to retheme Grand Prix raceway to CARS at Disney World MK.
Unless there is some sort of NASCAR tie in already???
Also, the autopia cars ARE NOT the same ones as the commercials (with faces on them etc.) Think about it. They are just generic looking cartooney cars as it is... why not have Chevron proudly sponsor CARS AUTOPIA ? They aren't really running those cartoon ads any more are they? Or do I just not watch enough TV.
If it werent for those cartoon ads and the videopreshow which sucks anyways in my opinion, we'd all be saying what a great combination:
CARS + CHEVRON + AUTOPIA seems like a natural fit for sponsor movie and ride to tie them together.
In a ways the movie CARS seems like a rip off of the Chevron commercials to begin with

I was just thinking....Did anyone ever stop to consider if maybe the upcoming "Cars" movie is actually based off of the Cheveron/Autopia theme ride? Kind of like how they made the pirates movie after the ride.
This whole movie may secretly be themed after Autopia/Cheveron!

no the movie is not secretly themed
I think a cars overlay was breifly considered but so far all reputable sources have said that a Cars overlay will NOT happen (it's just a well known rumor and is fuled by that man Jim of Hill)
there has been a Cars ride looked at for DCA that utilizes the Test Track technology but it's not for sure either
I have heard that Hong Kongs Autopia might get a cars overlay along with WDW's (maybe) and that there will be a Cars bumper cars thing in Disney Studios Paris"We all have sparks, imagination! it's how our minds... create creations!"

The Chevron deal sparked that big (well, for Pressler years) Autopia re-do, so I can't see the sponsorships leaving that soon.
I could see them doing a Cars overlay on WDW's Autopia, as it looks rather old these days and promoting a movie there doesn't really do as much damage. Plus, people from all over flood into WDW, so it's a lot of exposure.
Besides, "Cars" looks so much like the claymation Chevron Cars that I'm frankly shocked that Pixar hasn't been sued yet.
