  • Space Mountain Music

Anyone know who performs the new Space Mountain music or if it has a name? I know the old one was by Dick Dale and was called The Carnival of Animals.

And to add to this thread, which music did you prefer, Dick Dale's surf guitar or the new stuff?

I never rode it with the Dick Dale music, but I've heard it and I do love Dale a lot, but the current music has a place in my hear

I'm all for sharing music, check my love of soulseek in my signature, but I've got copies of both

Michael Giacchino is the composer of the Incredibles score and it says in his wiki that he did the soundtrack for Space Mountain, thanks Browncoat

              Re: Space Mountain Music

I prefered the Dick Dale version because of the darkness in the music. The ride was more ominous and daring, now it's just actiony. I also liked how the Dick Dale version grew all the way to the point of take off.

                    Re: Space Mountain Music

Its kindof disapointing that the 50th CD version is only the ride itself for the new song, the buildup music and the lift tunnel music before you get inside the ride is also very good.
There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

Bring back Dick Dale music! It had more punch and pizazz! Not to mention it matched up better to all the twists and turns of the ride than the current music!

i like the new one better

it has more of a space tune to it when the dick dale one has more of a surfing mixed with a little bit of space tune to it.

                          Re: Space Mountain Music

Dick Dale is my fave. However, I think the Dick Dale music could have been better produced, the synth background felt cheesy and it was coming from a cheap sound system, we never got to hear it on the new vehicles. But it matched the curves way better and had a more dramatic build. The new music is really good and lavishly produced, but does not enhance the moments of the ride as well. MHO.

                            Re: Space Mountain Music

It just seems to be that Space Moutain is a darker attraction. The dim lighting, everything being blues and purples and dark colors, the emptyness of the rooms. The Dick Dale version embraced this dark mysterious feel with use of theramin and other such devices. The new one song is much too action/adventurey. When I hear the music, I see yellow and red not blues and silver. I'm not sure if this is because of the Incredibles, or if it is just that the action adventure type music/rides have these warmer colors (think of the Indy logo).

I'm sorry, I have to go with the new music. I like Dick Dale, but riding Space Mountain in the past was like being in a bad '60's beach movie on drugs...without Annette!
