  • question about a darkbeer photo

On that picture at Darkbeer's website what is that thing with the wires on the Rocket Rods loading platform? Near the rails where you'd line up. See it? what is it?

That looks like the remains of the ride control podium.

Wonder why the wires are hanging out of it. The podium looked different than that before...hmm...

This picture is from the Disneyforever update. http://disneyforever.com/disneyland/...ges/pic050.htm

It doesn't look like these guys are painting. I don't think they are planning some huge surprise for the 50th, but it is interesting.

The guy on the left has a paint brush in his right hand and what looks like a small can of paint in his left.

Like I said, the remains. I assume the podium was removed, possibly salvaged for parts, leaving the wires exposed.

WHY IN THE WORLD ARE THEY PAINTING ON TOP OF THE TRACK!???
Could this possibly mean a new ride is in the works?

Perhaps a new ride is coming but it would probably take until 2007-ish for it to open. After all, only the main part of the track is now painted. Still the rest of it needs to be like the parts around Innoventions, Autopia, Submarine Lagoon, etc.

They may just be painting it to protect it from wear.

Those aren't real guys. There just AA's. Heck, they didn't even bother to hide the power cord to the guy on the left!

Because guests will be able to see the track from the top floor of the Starcade, Space Mountain, Innoventions and the Monorail. Can't have it be TOO MUCH of an eye sore.

That would be the electrical cables and supports of the former ride control console.

I guess the electronic components went on to bigger and better things.

                                BUMP

The guys are probably painting over the disgusting rust on the tubular rail for Rocket Rods. They might just paint it with new silver paint so it gleams again.

Also, I FINALLY figured out what the thing on the platform is. It's the old countdown thing for Rocket Rods--you know, red light, green light.

I thought those were on the straight part of the track?

Hmm... perhaps they are painting the chunks of the track seen... and checking for the track's stability... (or painting over the rusting pipe.... whihc should get removed and replaced with something else for the new ride...)
