  • Disneyland Questions (First Time)

Hi, My wife and I heading to Southern California this summer and plan on stopping by DL.

We have been to WDW a number of times, so we are familiar with some of the experiences, however, I wanted to know what the crowds would be like in late June (June 29, 30th), and what the typical park hours are at that time of year?

Will we have enough time (2 days) to enjoy the parks, or will be be rushed to "cram" things in?

    Thanks for your help!

    HI.

According to the Disney website, Disneyland will be open from 8 AM to 11pm and DCA from 10AM to 9PM on June 29 and 30th.

You can also call Disneyland closer to your visit and go to the above website to check and confirm the operating hours. The crowds should be above average and the parks should be busy..DCA being much less busy than DL.

You can definitely do both parks provided you are willing to be at the maingate of Disneyland by 7:15AM-7:30AM to get your place in line.

I recommend doing DL on the first day and then second day, you can do DCA (be line by 9:15AM - 9:30AM) since DCA should only take a few hours ..you can use the remaining part of the day and that whole evening to tour Disneyland (provided you have the 2 Park Hopper ticket) .

    Enjoy your visit!

        Thanks for the info!

I went to WDW over the July 4th weekend two years ago and remember that by 11:00 am the park became grid locked and it was very difficult to get on anything (and most FP were sold out).

Does DL get this crowded the week before the 4th?

Also, where is the best place in DL to watch the fireworks?

        Thanks again.

The week before the 4th is usually busy. But I think you will still be able to have a good and enjoyable visit.
The best place to watch the Fireworks (the new 50th show) is anyone near the Central Hub (circular area in front of castle)

            Thanks again,

My wife and I are excited to see how DL compares to WDW. We have both been to WDW so many times (my wife was a CM) that we are looking for some new experiences. Can't wait to be there for the 50th Anniversary!

Make sure you see Fantasmic in Disneyland, it IMHO is far more superior.

The new fireworks show will be seen best at the hub

Okay, new question. I was thinking about staying at the Hyatt, Orange County (I have enough hotel points from Business Travel that I can stay for free). However, I have read some mixed reveiws about this hotel.

Does anybody have any information on the Hyatt (any thoughts). Also, the hotel says that it is less then 1 mile from Downtown Disney, will I be able to walk to the parks or have to wait for the shuttle each day... What if I walk to the park in the morning and need a rid home at night (are there taxis near by)?

                Thanks.
