The Splash Mountain logs are being fixed (I think).

I was walking back behind the attraction today and I noticed several people (maintainance?) taking apart the back end of the logs and moving things around and screwing in the backs and hammering and pounding and drilling and dismantling and reassembling etc.

Now I know seeing is not always believing, but I got the impression that this was an effort to make the logs less heavy or work better or something. I am not sure exactly what they were doing, but I know they were (at the very least) doing something... which is better than nothing I suppose

I know there have been many posts about concern over when/if the problems would be fixed - and I guess this is just a post to let people know there is some effort being made. Now if we knew a timeline...

Do you remember or know that scene in 2001:Space Odessey where the black metal slab and the monkeys/humans/cave men are running around it, throwing stuff at it, banging it, and screaming around it. Did it look like that? I bet if you played that theme song to space odessey while they were bangin away onthe logs it would look hilarious. hahahaa :devil: It is kinda embarrasing that the update that they did caused more trouble. I feel for them but I guess they didnt do enough calculations that adding two people to the back maybe to heavy for the log to stay afloat at a safe level above the water.. oh well..hopefully its back for summer or you have a crowded NOS and Critter Ctry.

The log problem had nothing to do with weight. It was a problem with the handrails. It is my understanding that the logs were fixed and the ride has been going at full capacity since Friday.

On Sunday it looked like the back seat was still empty. And this wasn't a hand rail issue. The logs were getting stuck in the attraction.

Seeing as how I was stuck on a log and the CM who walked us off the ride explained the whole story. I'd say I trust the source.

I second Dusty. They were not loading the back seat on the logs the entire day. I rode single rider, and the load CM didn't really know why they weren't loading the back, just that I couldn't sit there.

So why was the ride down on Thursday and reopened Friday with reports that all had been fixed and people were sitting in the back again?

I hate when people lie (since that is apparently what has gone on here. Someone lied about the backseat being used this weekend.)

Of course, since I'll never ride Splash Mountain (me = no big drops) it's not that big of deal. I just like it when the ride gets people off the rides I want to go on, so higher capicity means lower capicity on the other rides for me.

I don't know anything about the reports of the ride being fixed. Perhaps someone saw them testing the logs again with lower weight people in the back, or with altered logs? I really don't know.

If they could manage to do a rolling rehab of the boats without taking the whole ride down, it would be fantastic. Lower capasity would be better than none while it is being worked on.

Anyone out there ride Splash on Sunday? Did they fill your boat or leave it empty in the back row?

Well, there were some pics online of testing that occured on Thursday, but for all we know they were old pics from a few months back passed off as new pics to deceive the masses as a sick joke.

** Today, April 30th 2005, the back of the logs were being loaded and were going out at full capacity - with very few problems! I rode in the shiny new (an apparently lighter) logs today and the backs were all full of happy Guests So, lets hope this fix did the trick!

I'm glad they came up with something and fixed it in time I wonder what they did to make it lighter...

Or did they have some sort of extra weight not needed back there...
