  • 50th Event Itinerary posted online

Reading the posts on a different Disney board, I was alerted to the fact that a tentative itinerary was posted online for the "Celebrating 50 Years of Magical Memories" event.

This itinerary can be found at disneygallery.com

I was very upset to see that only the final breakfast is actually inside of Disneyland, while everything else remains at the Disneyland Hotel. I was told by cast members, and it clearly reads on disneygallery.com, that the themed dining experience (scheduled for 7/16/05) is in the park. That has now changed according to the person I know at Special Events.

I want to celebrate this event at Disneyland park, not the Disneyland Hotel. I realize that the park will be extremely crowded, but I feel as though this event is not as advertised. The whole itinerary is located at the Disneyland Hotel. For our $2,000.00 per person, we get one breakfast in the park prior to opening on July 17, 2005???

I also realize that the event form does say "subject to change". Again, for the the money we are spending I had hoped that at least a few elements of this event would be in the park as promised. What do the rest of you think?

The itinerary on Disneygallery.com shows a change to reflect that the themed dining experience is inside of the Disneyland Park. I am gald to see this change. Maybe we will learn more as the day progresses.

Nevermind....just saw it. Is it me or is the DisneyGallery website hard to navigate and find information on? Sometimes you really have to hunt.

Merchandise has been posted as well.

When we first read about the themed dining in the park, we were wondering where that would be. Given how crowded the park will probably be, we didn't figure they could rope off part of the park like they did for HMH and the Indy event. We're figuring it's gotta be in the Festival Arena, which would seem to be the only place that would be able to accommodate that many people.

In the Additional Experiences section of registration, they've also added a "Disneyland star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame" package, though it's not available for reservations yet. The price for that seems fairly steep to me. (And I didn't know that entities could get a star - I thought it was only people.) It's not something we'd be doing even if we didn't already have other plans. (Not to sound ungrateful, but I wish the pageant of the masters tickets were on a night other than the 14th.)

Wow - that sounds cool, and it includes lunch at the Tam. The price isn't all that steep, if the lunch is more than their "sandwich bar" in the pub area. A good hot meal there is about $15 per person for lunch, not inlcuding tax and tip. And, I'm betting the restaurant manager will give a brief tour or overview of the place - even show the table where the "9 Old Men" used to congregate. Although, one can ask the manager for that "tour" anytime.

This package add-on does sound kinda neat though.

I hope the park tickets we get are some cool collectible type item.

I noticed the lack of information on Space Mountain yesterday and called to ask about it. I was told that your opportunity consists of 1) your ticket into the park that is part of your event package; 2) your standing in line to ride the attraction. Doesn't sound all that "special" to me. I am reserving judgment as maybe the cast member was not fully informed.

Another poster suggested that we would ride before park opening and after our breakfast on Sunday July 17, 2005. I would agree that this is the best time for the ride, but having been to most of the previous merchandise events, I do not see them concluding breakfast in time to get us to that side of the park.

Guests are never on time (nor is Disney) and the 6:00 am start time will be an extra hurdle to clear. Maybe I am wrong, but for the Tower of Terror dinner they had us ride a bus a full 1 mile around the park only to have it break down. Nobody had a clue what to do or how to fix it (walking the extra two blocks would have been easy) and this caused a several hour delay. Oh well, maybe they will get this one right.

I called yesterday also and I was told something different. I was told that our package included riding Space Mountain on Sunday before the park opens.

                      KTHoover,

Thanks for the update. I am still curious to see how they pull it off, but it makes me feel better to know that I was given wrong information and that they at least want to try and get us on the ride in some sort of exclusive fashion. Thanks again!

Not a problem Disneynut, I just hope the information I received is correct. I'm not sure how they are going to do it either. My husband and I have already decided that if they don't have enough time were not going to do the Space Mounting ride. I don't want to miss everything happening on main street, that is the main reason why we are going on the 17th I want to see everything Being able to go on the 17th at 6:00 am and not have to stand in line with all of those thousands of people is worth every penny that this event cost Can't wait!!

I think that what you got for your $1955.00 per person was 2 nights at the Grand Californian Hotel, 2 extra gifts, reserved seating at the same events that I will be at(with the Lillian Package for $644, after taking off for my PAP) and breakfast on the Mark Twain.
I kinda figured that most of the events would be at one of the Hotels. Now, I'm quite pleased, as I purchased an online Disneyland Hotel package (which includes a 50th anniversary commemorative clock) last year in May for Thursday, July 14th thru Monday, July18th. Which means that ALL of the events, with the exception of Saturdays dinner and Sundays breakfast, will be in my hotel. Please excuse my enthusiasm but,"SWEEEET"!!
I'm curious though, are you going to have to check out early Sunday the 17th? After reading the disclaimer below about room availability on the anniversary weekend, I would have been bummed about checking out at O'Dark-Thirty in order to get to breakfast by 6AM. So, do you have to check out early on the 17th?

Take a look at what the WAlt package offers. There are no promises of doing any events in the Park except the Saturday dinner and the Sunday breakfast.

Look at it this way, Your staying at the best hotel on Disneyland property, you're still one of about 50 people who get to have breakfast on the Mark Twain, those 2 extra gifts may be some really cool bling, and you get the optimal seating for everything. If you see me there (I'll probably have on my Circarama name badge), please come up and introduce yourself. I'll be dying to know about the perks of your package.

                            Circarama,

My opinion of the event has since improved a little. My first argument was that the themed dinner was not in the park as they originally mentioned. Long before the itinerary was posted, I spoke to someone at event services and they said that the party was indeed in the park. I was curious to see if it was true because of the crowds that weekend. The tentative itinerary came out and it incorrectly listed the dinner at the Disneyland Hotel. In the end, it was a typo that was fixed in a timely fashion.

My other gripes are small in nature. As part of our "Walt" package (it shows on our confirmation but not on the website) we were to take part in the 2005 Disney Legend Induction ceremony. The fine folks at MSE now say this is no longer part of the package, but that we can PURCHASE tickets for a "similar" event, the Hollywood Walk of Fame presentation.

I did not see the ride on Space Mountain on the itinerary and I have been given several different answers as to when that will happen.

I realize that the event can change, but I think my overall gripe is that, like past events, it is not well organized. A great deal of my disappointment is just that I care so much about the 50th and wanted this experience to the best possible. I am the type of guy who lives by a strict schedule so half of the problem is me!

Merchandise Special Events was actually very kind in calling us and offering us the chance to switch our hotel arrival and departure dates. We now have our hotel stay scheduled for the evenings of July 14, 15, 16, and 17.

My wife and I would welcome the chance to meet you and would be pleased to share our info about all of the perks, gifts and other items we receive as part of this package and very special day!

I remember reading about the induction ceremony for your package, and I am quite sorry to hear about this. I would be very upset about not being included in the induction ceremony, especially since it probably colored your decision to buy the Walt package.

As for Space Mountain, a "free fastpass" allowing me one ride without waiting in line to be used at ANY time on the 17th would be fine with me. That would allow me to eat breakfast and take time to witness all the 17th celbrations around main street/hub/castle.

Good thinking! This would actually be fine for us as well. Maybe show your event credential to the cast member and go through the exit for priority boarding even.

As I have said before, they only have two hours blocked for the breakfast on the 17th. Having witnessed past events, I find it hard to believe that they can get through breakfast and then on Space Mountain prior to park opening at 8:00 am. First, as this is the big part of our package, I do not want to be rushed through the meal. Second, with a start time of 6:00 am, there is no doubt going to be guests that they will have to wake up and then wait on. Third, we hope to have some goodies (commemorative gifts) with us and hopefully will not prevent us from taking the ride on Space.

You present a very good solution to the problem. I hope that they offer such in the end.
