The big castle reveile on the 5th has been sc. The other night they did a test run othis and it was a catastrufy. The wind got a hold of the curtain (made of a parachut typed material) and bluw it up tward the castle. When all was done it had broken some flag masses and other thing on the castle. All was fixed by opening the next morning, but because of the misshap they have sc the idea.

You know, it's things like this, that make me wonder about Disney's ability to handle technical issues. Parachute silk getting caught by the wind? Who could have imagined that?"She's taking everything. She's taking the house, she's taking the kid, she's taking the dog. IT'S NOT EVEN HER DOG. IT'S MY DOG! SHE'S TAKING . . . MY DOG!"

You would think the curtain would be threaded with cables down doth sides and then weighted at the top so it has no where to go but down- they would still have time to do that.........Check out the News Forum for the latest news with a Micechat twist!

Aw, that sucks. It would have been cool to see the castle revealed in that way. Maybe they'll do something with lights now? Like the castle will be totally dark and then BOOM, tons of new lighting and decorations and stuff? Oh wait...but they'd have to do it in the daytime, in which case, lights would be stupid.

You would think weighted curtains, as mentioned above, would easily solve this. I guess better safe than screw up a major event like this.WALT'S DISNEYLAND DEDICATION SPEECH! - To all who come to this happy place, welcome! Disneyland is your land. Well, at least they gave it a pre-performance test. How horrible would it have been on May 5th to see the curtain go wacky and start breaking bits off of the castle?"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

Never really thought the idea was a good one anyways.
They should have gotten that drawbridge working again and lowered it like on opening day.

Disney did the right thing. They tested it and found it didn't work. So they changed their plans. Much better than finding out at the big event and having the press take pictures of a broken castle. They were thinking ahead. Kudos to the event team for avoiding disaster.MiceChat 101: Be NICE! If you don't play well with others, you are in the wrong sandbox.

Sorry to hear that they will not be able to do this now. It seemed like a good idea at the time...Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.
