  • Carnation Cafe? Need Advice!

    Hello all!
I'm taking my cousins to Disneyland next Sunday and was considering taking them to Carnation Cafe for lunch or dinner. I've NEVER been before so I have no idea how it is.
-What kinds of food do they have and is the money worth it?
-Also, if I make priority seating reservations, is there a long wait to get a table? Because it seems like there isn't much eating space.
-Do you have any dish recommendation?

We had breakfast at CC in February and thought the food was great. I would recommend PS just in case, the line seemed kind of long (we had PS). It is a charming place to dine right on Main Street. Very friendly, sincere service.

I've only had breakfast there...I thought that they didn't serve lunch and dinner? I could be wrong, but I know I read that somewhere...

Anyhow, breakfast there has been absolutely wonderful...anything they cook tastes great! It's my favorite place to eat breakfast anywhere, so I highly recommend the place

They don't serve lunch until 11:45-12ish. The lunch menu is mostly sandwiches. The food is very good, but the service is more than a bit on the slow side.

The magic of Carnation Cafe happens at Breakfast. I think that relaxing before the day starts soaking up the atmosphere of Main Street is the best time to eat at Carnation Cafe.

I suggest that you do something in New Orleans Square for lunch or dinner or the delicious Fried Chicken at the Plaza Inn.

I totally agree. Best for breakfast. Limited lunch and dinner menu.

You might want to try Cafe Orleans for Lunch or Dinner. Lots of wonderful restaurants in Downtown Disney as well.

Thanks. I considered Cafe Orleans, because I've been there once and I liked it but it seems as if a lunch or dinner there would be $5 more than Carnation Cafe. Also, I am planning on going to French Market for dinner.

I love the French Market for dinner! But it also has a nice lunch menu. I guess I am a sucker for those Mint Juleps in summer! Yum!

French Market is so good. Love eating there.

I didn't think the CC was open for dinner. I've eaten there for lunch and the food is good with decent portions. The atmosphere is great, it really feels like a litte quaint cafe.

On another note. They have this ice cream sundae, I think it's called the matterhorn. It's easily enough for 4 people...heaven in a bowl.

                          Re: Carnation Cafe? Need Advice!

I had "dinner" there the other night and it was by far one of the worst meals/experences I have had in the park.

USE PS---We were a party of 7 which we knew would take a bit before being seated but 35 minutes with 5 tables open, was a bit long after being told 3 times it would be 5 minutes. We broke down and said we had no problem splitting up due to the fact they had 2 tables right along the sidewalk open. A few minutes later they came up to us and asked "if we wouldn't mind splitting up" and we said no. The cm said ok it would be 2 at this table 4 at another and then 1 at another all around the area, to which we said can't we just sit at those tables pointing to the 2 at the front. The CM looked lost for a few moments then said "hang on let me check." Now we understand that they might not have enough CM's to take care of all the tables but they sat us at those tables.

Look at the Menu---So 10 minutes later a CM comes up and asks about drinks which took about 5 minutes to get. Then 10 minutes later we are asked if we are ready to order. We all get our orders together and start chatting between the 2 tables. A few minutes later they bring out the soup for one of the people at the other table, who wanted to wait to eat with everyone so we waited....and waited....and waited. Then our waitress comes over checks on our drinks and says "oh that soup was supposed to be for this table" and takes the soup from one table to my table. We ask about the rest of our food and she says it will be about 5 minutes. So again we wait and wait and wait, 15 minutes later (mind you we have been seated for about 30 minutes) our food comes out.

Don't expect the best--- I had the Croissant Chicken Club....which was a good chicken croissant, but adding bacon to it should not and does not make it a Club. Between everyone at the 2 tables we had almost everything on the menu...and everyone said the food was OK at best. I know it is a theme park and we should not expect anything amazing, but I have been to almost every place both here and in WDW and this was on the poor side of everything. Plus for the price you would expect something a little better.

                          I would give it a 3 out of 10

The Croisant Chicken Club is the best choice, then go for a matterhorn dessert. Wait times are a little excessive. I didnt feel the service was that great. Food was good but service was lacking. Breakfast is good there as well.

Im bored, lets go to Disneyland.

We have had really great experiences with the Carnation Cafe. We have eaten there several times for breakfast and once for lunch.

We have never made PS for it but it is probably best to do so as the line can get long.
