  • 40th Anniversary parade and fireworks

So I may being do a speech on my trip to Disneyland in June and I want to talk about the changes from my last trip (the 40th) and this trip and I don't know the names of the parade or firework shows that were going on. Anyone want to help me out?

Yikes...the 40th. I think it was titled 40 Years of Adventure and celebrated in 1995. I am only recalling from memory, but I am pretty sure the fireworks were Fantasy in the Sky, the parade was The Lion King Festival, and the main new attraction was Indiana Jones (hence the Years of Adventure theme).

I remember the 40 years of adventure, we have the magnet.

And yeah the Lion King parade sounds right.

And my dad fell in love with Indy that year, I think he rode it about 5-6 times when we were there for 3 days, every chance he got, he was in line for Indy.

The Lion King parade was called "The Lion King Celebration", if I remember correctly. One of the best Disneyland parades ever.

The only entertinment offering that was exclusive to the 40th was the Magic Kingdom Caberet at the Tomorrowland Terrace, presenting "40 years of adventure"

Ok... now I get to look like a geek.

Daytime Parade: The Lion King Celebration
Nighttime Parade: Main Street Electrical Parade

Fantasmic: up to 3 times a night.

Fireworks: Fantasy in the Sky with Indiana Jones music at the end, right before honoring America

                  Theme: Forty Years of Adventures

                  Song:

                  Forty years of adventure
                  Forty years of fun
Forty years of thrills, chills and spills, the adventure has just begun.
Forty years of excitement, like the day it all began
It's forty years of adventures, at Disneyland!

                  Disneyland Ambassadors: Three

And on July 17 -- Lots of cake. Buried the Time Castle. Randy Travis sang happy birthday from the top of the Matterhorn. Big character balloons on the top of main street buildings.

                  Did I miss anything?

My only wish is that Disneyland would have provided us the memories of the 50th that I have of the 40th. My memories of the 50th include booing Michael Eisner, battling the press for space in the hub on May 5, and an overall underwhelming party on the 17th. Disney can and HAS done better.
