  • A funny thing happened on the way to the train...

As the 50th nears I am reminded of a funny story that happened in 1967, at Disneyland. I was 9 and my brother just turned 12. As with most siblings, there is always some sort of rivalry going on. I was always the little brother and looking for ways to beat my brother at anything. Well, my time had come. Keep in mind, I DID NOT PLAN THIS. My parents and I were waiting to ride the train in New Orleans Square. I was focused like a laser beam at the tunnel, waiting for any hint of steam, whistle, cattle catcher, anything that resembled a train. My brother, as always was off looking at something, who knows what. I thought sure we were going to leave him behind. Well, soon enough the train came, which seemed like eternity to a 9 year old. I started to get ready to board with my family. Just then my brother popped up and started to take a drink from a cup that was next to me. It wasn't ours. It had a cigarette butt in it and about a quarter full of warmed iced tea from the hot July afternoon. I couln'd believe he took a drink of it. I yelled his name and said, "That isn't ours." He spit it out and we have been laughing ever since. Oh what great memories are made at Disneyland!
If you have any funny stories from Disneyland I, (and I'm sure the rest of the community), would love to here them.

I see that no one has written any funny stories. Does that mean that no one has had a funny story at the happiest place on earth?
Please share, as I think people would like to hear these stories.

Everytime I post somthing that was funny at my stays, I get yelled at by the boards. Also, I am not the one who caused the following incidents, I'm just relaying the story. I'm not a mean person or anything, I don't degrade or swear or bash anyone. I even go to church 4 times a week. So please.... don't yell at me. If you have feedback, then just post that you find somthing innaporpriate or such. Here goes.......

NEED I REMIND YOU I DIDN'T DO THE ACTUALL FUNNY THING, it was usually my cousen or my friend who came with me quite often who was the trouble maker.

When me and my cousen were on Splash Mountain, as we were going by the annimatronic of the rabit who was poping in and out of his hole and laughing histericly because all of the logs are heading twoards the drop. I said to my cousen, "Hey Josh, that rabbitt is laughing at you." and he looks at the rabbitt and and says "******* you!" to the rabbit and flips it the bird.
We both thought that was pretty funny. When you think about hows stupid ir is and that it's just an annimotronic.

Another time, my friend and I were at Disneyland and scoping out girls, and as we were leaving the park and walking back to the bus station my friend was checking out these two girls walking the opisite way twordes the park, and said, "those two chicks right their are pretty hot, except that one on the right is wearing a push-up bra, I can tell!" And I guess the girl heard him and blushed and her friend started cracking up. I can't believe my friend said that out loud to this day.

Once when I was very young, I was at Disneyland with my father and my two brothers on "Transportation Night." My father had taken us to get an ice-cream sundae at the parlor in New Orleans right next to Pirates and we were sitting under a canopy of trees. The server brought us our ice-cream and we all dug in. While my youngest brother was eating his, a huge white bird turd dropped right into his icecream. He looked up and another big white bird turd dropped right onto his hand. It was sooo funny. He just sat there crying looking at his hand and his ice-cream not knowing what to do. My dad just grabbed a napkin and told him to clean off his hand and asked the waitress to bring us another sundae which she did when she saw what had happened.

I'm just very glad that we all noticed it when it happened because he may not have been able to distinguish the bird turd from the ice-cream until it was too late.

Needless to say, we changed to another table too. That one was a war zone.

Probably the funniest thing I ever did at Disneyland was when my dad and I were waiting in line for the Storybookland Canal Boats. Keep in mind that I was well past the age for which these boats are meant. We had just been on Small World, so of course the song is in our head and we spent the entire time in line (longer than I would have expected at 9 or so at night) making up new words to the oh so familiar song, where all the animatronics went on a killing spree. It was called "It's a Dangerous World."

Pull your hands from the moat, we will crawl in the boat! It's a Dangerous WOrld!

My gramps can't walk around DL easy so we always rent a motorized scooter for him. We were traveling along the rivers of america near the pirates entrance... when suddenly a huge bird turd landed in his hair! He just shook his head in disgust as I laughed my head off and my dad ran to get napkins. We always laugh about that now.

Once we were in line for Space mountain when A cast member came out and told us that the ride was broken down. A confused japanees family in front of us were wondering why everyone was turning around in line.. They asked my uncle what was going on and he said enthusiasticly "Someone stood up and got their head choped off!!" The family All gasped and ran off. We felt bad that the family beleived us

Do funny stories about the Disneyland hotel count? One time my family went with another family to the DLR. We were staying in joined hotel rooms, and decided to call room service. The family that was staying with us had a 8 year old son, who's a pretty wacky kid. He asks my dad if he wants to hear something funny, and when my dad says yes, the kid takes his arm, puts it up to his mouth and starts to blow, thus creating a somewhat silly sound. He proceeds to do this for 5 minutes and then the room service guy walks in the room. The kid runs up to him, still making the noise and starts to run around the room service guy in circles still blowing on his arm. the room service man looks for an escape route from the kid but can't seem to find one. finally his mom comes in and calls him off. the room service guy gave us all a strange look and left.

My tongue froze to a Frozen Orange Juice Bar once. I had to pant for a few moments to free myself. I like to think I looked inconspicuous.

Probably the funniest thing that happened at Disneyland was trying to stop the couple in the boat in front of us on Pirates from kissing. My friends and I had an entire boat to ourselves, and we basically sang "Kiss the Girl" really loudly and... yeah. We were pretty obnoxious, but at the time it was funny.

Another funny thing was at the BB in April, my friends Nick and Travis and me had the fried cheesecake. All the caramel and stuff was left on the plate, and I got Nick to lick it clean for a dollar.... yeah...

Hmmm, any visit with my niece is funny. I think the funniest was when we were driving there and she was sound asleep. We were on Katella near the employee parking lot. SHe woke up, looked around and said "Daddy...DISSYLAND" (that was how she said DIsneyland at 2 1/2 yrs old ish). THe funny thing was my brother in law did not tell her we were going!!!! She only knew that she was going to visit Auntie Katie. So when she fell asleep before they got to my house and woke up at Disneyland...Man it was so cute

one of my greatest memories is of my dad at dl. i was about 4 yrs old. on a trip to dl in tne late sixties my mom, dad, brother and babysister had just emerged from the pirates ship, when my mom had to suddenly takeoff to the bathroom. she handed my dad her purse and diaper bag then we stood oustside the ship ewating for her return. mr. smee comes up to my dad and motions to him about the purse. dad just looked a little embarassed and told smee he was only temporarily holding it. smee then points to the bag and "laughs" and walks like a model back and forth, points to dad and so on. he turned soooo beet red and kept trying to proclaim his machismo to smee. finally smee left and mom came back. dad sticks the bag out to her and says he will never hold her purse again. i just laughed and laughed. after mom heard the story she never let my dad hear the end of it.
