surprise visitor to DL on Sunday, May 1 (Roy Disney)

Well, not a surprise to Disney, but definitely a pleasant surprise to us. We were wandering around New Orleans Square in the afternoon and noticed that they had some kind of set-up on the balcony of the Disney Gallery, where they have the Fantasmic dessert buffet. There was a camera and lights and reflectors and stuff, all around a man sitting in a chair with his back to the river. I thought he looked kind of familiar but dismissed the notion. Then we looked a bit more, and sure enough, it was him.

OMG. I noticed that too. However, the people I was with said that it was just more location shooting for the Austrialian film crew. Great shot Cindy!

Glad to see that Roy still visits the parks. Wonder who was interviewing him?

Wow! I was in the POTC ride wondering what they were up too up there. I thought they where just documenting the Disney Gallery.

They also had a shoot at the hub. My wife wanted to hit Indy the moment we got there so I never got close enough to see what was up. Anyone know what they where shooting? Quite a nice setup with a remote boom cam. Not your standerd equipment.

I think this is great even though their our major differences of opinions on the future of Disney in general its wonderful that a great person like Roy can set those aside and remember the roots

It was an Australian Morning TV Show, Sunrise. They are broadcasting live from Disneyland to Australia all this week for the 50th.

They will be filming at different locations all around the park. I will be certainly watching it all week.

Frankly, I'm shocked that Matt wasn't there...he usually makes a point to be at everything! Who did he send as a replacement? Mike Mendenhall (his Sr. Exec. VP) or Greg Emmer (VP of Operations)?

I think the guests arriving for the big celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary will be generally delighted with what they find, especially if they haven't been there in a few years.

Having been present on Opening Day, July 17, 1955, it will be sad for me not to be around for this momentous piece of history, and certainly this July I'll feel a pretty strong pang of nostalgia...but I am certainly encouraged that SaveDisney has clearly played its part in reminding Disneyland's caretakers of their duty to keep the park ever young, and ever fresh!"
