Re: Disneyland and 9/11
The first year Anniversay they closed all the rides at noon and did the President's speech from the Hub.
They only did this the one year. Nothing since. No concerns, I wouldn't think, even if it is the five year Anniversary.Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,it's what they are like in their HEART!

It's definitely not Disneyland's purpose to do something for it.

Re: Disneyland and 9/11
Yeah, because that's exactly what I need: a day of mourning in Disneyland. Maybe we should also celebrate the Holocaust, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Pearl Harbor, slavery, indian reservations, Katrina, etc. You can never be too careful about these things.

Re: Disneyland and 9/11
Isn't Disney , self-admittedly, distorting the truth of 9/11 for 5th anniversary?
What more could we possibly want from Mr. Iger and his bully pulpit version of Disney and ABC/Cap Cities? Isn't the fact that Disney is involved in the whole sordid business of making millions of dollars off the deaths of 3000 Americans distasteful enough ...

Re: Disneyland and 9/11
This topic seemed to be more about if Disneyland Park is going to have a special program for 9-11 not regarding the politics of ABC TV's programming.
There are plenty of blogs and websites where you can share your political views on the mini series that you have not seen yet.
The short answer currently regarding the 9-11 schedule at Disneyland park is nothing has been announced about any special programming for 9-11 at this time.

Re: Disneyland and 9/11
I don't know, but now that it's been 5 years (!) can we move the hell on? I mean, the normal period of mourning is long past at this point...
Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

I've been at Disneyland on September 11 every year starting 2002, and there's usually just more people at flag retreat. When it's fallen on a weekday, quite a number of people from TDA attend, and quite a contingent of CMs dressed in costumes from various lands attend as well. Since it's on a Monday this year, I expect there to be a large CM turnout, both from TDA and in-park. I'll be at flag retreat.
And for those who think it's time to "move on", please feel free to do so, but please don't tell anyone else that too much time has passed for them to still feel anything about that day. I'm glad you're over it. I, however, will never forget.

Re: Disneyland and 9/11
I go to Disneyland to escape the real world, so I hope they don't do anything.
On a related note (I guess) I know they will be doing something special at Angel Stadium prior to the game Monday night.
One of the pilots of the doomed aircraft that day was an Angels fan. His brother threw out the first pitch on Opening Day one year. One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it's worth watching.
