  • Disneyland and 9/11

Is Disneyland doing anything special on september 11 to honor the victims? i was thinking about going before class in the morning but im worried that the whole time will be taken up by security checks in case their is a copy cat attack.

I don't think so. Remember the purpose of Disneyland is to take people out of the world of today and put them in a world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy.

Yeah they don't commemorate anything else so I doubt they'll do anything special for 9/11. I'm thinking of going there to escape all of the tv and news coverage of the anniversary though.

Just to add my 2 cents: I hope not. That's not Disneylands purpose.

The first year Anniversay they closed all the rides at noon and did the President's speech from the Hub.

They only did this the one year. Nothing since. No concerns, I wouldn't think, even if it is the five year Anniversary.

I wish I could do that. I'm not even going to bother turning on the news that day.

It's definitely not Disneyland's purpose to do something for it.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I need: a day of mourning in Disneyland. Maybe we should also celebrate the Holocaust, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Pearl Harbor, slavery, indian reservations, Katrina, etc. You can never be too careful about these things.

                    Re: Disneyland and 9/11

                    Isn't Disney , self-admittedly, distorting the truth of 9/11 for 5th anniversary?

What more could we possibly want from Mr. Iger and his bully pulpit version of Disney and ABC/Cap Cities? Isn't the fact that Disney is involved in the whole sordid business of making millions of dollars off the deaths of 3000 Americans distasteful enough ...

This topic seemed to be more about if Disneyland Park is going to have a special program for 9-11 not regarding the politics of ABC TV's programming.
There are plenty of blogs and websites where you can share your political views on the mini series that you have not seen yet.

The short answer currently regarding the 9-11 schedule at Disneyland park is nothing has been announced about any special programming for 9-11 at this time.

Back on topic...just like CAspace said, this is about the Park not any other kinda broadcast or hype.

I don't know, but now that it's been 5 years (!) can we move the hell on? I mean, the normal period of mourning is long past at this point...

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Lets hope not. Flag at half mast at the most. I'd rather escape all of the well meaning but maudlin media.
