AP's do not apply on days that the park is closed to the public- May 4th is one such day. A select group of AP's were selected in a drawing to be able to enter the park on the 4th with a guest. DCA is, however, open to the public on the 4th and both parks are open on the 5th.

Um...can AP Premium holders get into the park for the special event on May 4th? Or is that a blackout date? I thought Premium passes didn't have blackout dates? Also, is May 5th a day that's open to the public?

I'm con-fuse-ed.
