  • Goodbye, Golden Vehicles

This is probably old news to some, but when I was at Disneyland yesterday (waiting in line for Dumbo), I noticed that Dumbo #14 is no longer gold. After we sat down, I aked a CM when that happened and he said it was pretty recently, like after Labor Day.

At our next stop, Casey Jr, a CM there confirmed that all the Golden Vehicles were gone or going soon and he was glad for it. He said it was such a huge pain for him and the other CM's to try to keep guests happy when there is only ONE golden Dumbo, carrousel horse, etc. Some guests just stayed in line for several turns to get the gold vehicle and a few even offered bribes to the CM's manning the attraction. (Side Note: Casey Jr. itself is gold and not scheduled to be repainted until the next refurb shutdown in Dec. or thereabouts)

The photo-op golden vehicles are still in place, next to the attractions themselves, but they may be gone soon as well.

Looks like Disneyland is winding down the longest Birthday Bash in recorded history.
How much do we have to pay to get MiceChat Old?

    Re: Goodbye, Golden Vehicles

I was one of those spoiled guests who would request to ride the golden vehicle - and I am proud to say "I rode them all!"

Thanks to the gracious CMs who let me wait out one cycle on Dumbo, several cars on autopia, and let me be first through the gate on the teacups. I got the rest all on my own - by luck

I have never been in any of the golden vechicles, but it was never that important to me. It was fun seeing them the first time...

I like the photo op cars, paint them a regular color and keep them out. Fun for group pics

Don't know about that. I saw a recently repainted Casey Jr waiting backstage on Sat. I'm expecting that they will just switch the cars and repaint the gold one while the other is opperating.

My grandson got to ride the golden horse on the carousel. He liked that. I was surprised that he agreed to ride the carousel with me. He usually thinks he too old for that. Sean is 13.

I never rode the gold vehicles, never had the burning desire too, but would've been happy if I had. Glad they are getting taken away, but I agree with demento that the photo ops should be repainted and kept. Those can make for some really good pictures.

No doubt! At first I thought it was cool, and then I thought ah well, whatever, now, I too am beginning to look forward to a "normal" park. However, I did enjoy and will miss the lamp posts, the crowns and the fireworks!

Agreed! Then over and over and over..... Never thought I'd go 3 times in a year and half and see that other than pirates and HM, nothing (visual)changed in the park!

Well I can understand how people have grown tired of the 50th celebration. It began way beack in May of last year. That's over 16 months ago. With that said, I enjoyed seeing the sparkly golden vehicles, the two times that I visited the Disneyland Resort.

I rode in the gold teacup with hot DMCA women.

Only ever rode the gold Dumbo. Won't ever forget it too. I was sitting in there waiting and a 4 year old ran up and started yelling at me, "HEY!!! HEY!!! HEYYYYY!!!!" then ran off to another Dumbo.

                          Good morning, son
                          In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                          It was pain
                          Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

As of Friday, September 15, it was still there. Talked to a CM though and he said they will probably be changing it soon from the gold ship to a regular one.

I never got to ride any of the gold vehicles, though it wasn't really a goal of mine. It would've been cool to have ridden one, though. =) I'm a little sad to see them go...of course, I only got to see them once while on vacation up there.

This is a bit off topic, but I made it a point to see "Disneyland - The first 50 Magical Years", the Steve Martin movie, one final time when I was there last week. I'll be glad to see the park return to it's pre-50th normal old Disneyland self, but I remember walking into the opera house just a couple weeks after that film opened last year and just staring at the displays in the lobby.

I wish they could leave the film and displays up for a couple more years, but I guess it's time for them to go.

...and then there are those of us who didn't even NOTICE that there were so many golden vehicles, because we were just so happy to be there in the first place. I know...sad.

The Peter Pan ship and the teacup photo vehicles were still there yesterday. Toad's car was gone.
