Discovery Bay at DCA????

I know its a long shot...but in his new article, Al said:

"But the big stuff is planned for the 2008-10 timeframe when pretty much everything from the Orange Stinger to Golden Dreams is torn out and replaced with a new San Francisco concept"

It could be total pipe dream but I wonder if its possible the "New San Francisco Concept" is Discovery Bay !!!!

I doubt it. But since you brought it up, I always thought that making the entrance area be the San Francisco part of the park makes more sense. The fake fronts they have in the "bay area" would be great for shops, and would be much more like Main Street than what they have now.

And, of course, the Golden Gate Bridge fits perfectly with that theme.

Always loved the discovery bay concept, It would take some work to get all of the Pixar that is supposedly planned into it, but that look and feel would be great

I like the San Francisco concept. I don't know about Discovery Bay. I would much rather have a full San Fran area with the whole feel of the bay area.

Well the SF area could actually go from that half of Paradise Pier over into the Wharf area which IMO is distinctly SF.

There are lots of elements of Discovery Bay in DCA already, like the themeing of the Pacific Wharf area, etc. While tossing a zepplin in there would be awesome, I don't see them going that route.

I like the San Francisco concept. I don't know about Discovery Bay. I would much rather have a full San Fran area with the whole feel of the bay area.

I really hope they don't make it like modern SF. With all the mention of fantasy themes I hope they make it a kind of historical stylized type area. Kind of like how main street is historical, but still sensationalized.

It was a concept for an expansion of Disneyland by Tony Baxter.

It was reminiscent of a Fisherman's Wharf type area with a Jules Verne touch. Kind of hard to explain.

I can't find any concept art on the web, but if you're interested I'll take a picture of fastpassmountain's Discovery Bay lithograph tonight.

ive always kinda thought that expansion into the timon parking lot right behind Pacific Wharf would be a perfect spot to add a Discovery Bay type of area, not necessarily with all of the original elements, but with some of em along with some new ones.

maybe rename the whole area "Discovery Wharf" or something of the like?

I dont know about you guys, but i definitely can see potential for PW to turn into the New Orleans Square of DCA. Expand the area a bit and make it like NOS in the sense that you're walking past buildings and quaint little stores, and even though it takes up a small amount of space, it really feels as if you're exploring this area and discovering things "all on your own" as you wind your way through the little alleyways and nooks and crannies, if that makes any sense.

Add in a Discovery Bay element to the area, including a major, people eating E-ticket or two (a la PoTC and HM) and this area could really fulfill the potential that i see there.

oh! oh! i thought of this just after i posted my last comment lol

maybe add the proposed Incredibles ride as one of the E-tickets (I think it was planned to go in this area anyways)

and maybe put in some form of Western River Expansion here as well? i know it probably would fit better in the grizzly peak area, but with some small themeing changes, it defintely could work in Pacific Wharf as well

I would be excited if they threw in a little DB into the area. I've always loved that pic Hyperbole posted and concept in general (I'm a sucker for Victorian)
