Splash Mountain sweater debate and a Fantasmic question

So I watched my old official Disneyland VHS last night ("A Day At Disneyland: A Disneyland Day--Relive the Memories".) This video was about 1989-90ish? Saw the old rockets, sky way, the people mover, fantasy in the Sky, old Space Mountain, the old parking lot before DCA desetroyed it, Fantasmic when it still had Ursula and the electrical parade when it was still the Main Street Electrical Parade. (And I saw a kid with a mullet!!! WOW.)

But for those of you in the Splash Moutain "sweater" debate, in this VHS the bear was NOT holding a blue sweater while being bobbed up and down. BTW, does anyone know if the sweater is still there?

As for Fantasmic, I've been wondering, why was Ursula removed? And what ever happened to Pinocchio?

I don't know about the Splash Mountain Sweater. But Ursula was removed because she broke and they (Pressler/Harris) didn't want to spend any money to fix the float. Last time I saw the show Pinocchio was there, so I am not sure what happened. Probably just needs some repair work.

Huh? You'd rather have an open parking lot with no shade instead of a second park?

That blue "sweater" has been in Brer Bear's hands since at least my very first ride on Splash Mountain about thirteen years ago. That's an awful long time for a misplaced "sweater" to be left hanging on Brer Bear, dontcha think?

As for Ursula, I wish her float would return to Fantasmic. That thing scared the hell out of me the only time I ever saw it in action.

the sweater has always been there from what I remember and Ursula has not been in the show for years, cost too much to fix her....

my guess...is they do not really care for DCA, so given the choice they would choose the parking lot.

I LOVE DCA and DTD...I'm very happy they are both there. I even like the new parking garage...

Me too - I find the new Mickey and Friends so much nicer, easier to find your car, and when on the lower levels shady!

I don't understand how a hot sunny parking lot is better than DCA? Even if one only likes one thing in DCA - it is still better than parking lot. Right?

The answer to this question can actually be partially found within this very thread.

Ursula has not been replaced because money is tight. Money is tight because there is this giant money sucking vacuum sweeper opposite Disneylands entrance. I'd rather have the Parking lot(which was a money maker btw).

Tip: Never rely on these videos to show you what things are like in the park.

Take a look at all the videos made during the past 15 years. You'll find things such as re-recorded spiels and music, just like in the attraction, except crappier. Worst of all? They just take footage from several parks to make up the attraction. Most obvious one being is every video featuring the Haunted Mansion. You'll always find a couple of shots lifted directly from Phantom Manor.

If this was from 89 or 90, it had no choice but to be from DL. But if it was from as late as 92, there's a possibility that it could be promo footage shot from WDW.
