  • No Roy at the 50th :-(

I just checked SaveDisney.com, and noticed that Roy Disney left a new message that i thought what pretty sad:
A Message from Roy E. Disney...
    Happy Birthday, Disneyland!

My wife, Patty, and I paid a visit to Disneyland over the weekend, and I think in the spirit of SaveDisney, we owe everyone there enormous credit for the terrific job they've done over the last year or so to spruce the place up, repaint, refurbish, and generally brighten this amazing 50-year-old lady.

I think the guests arriving for the big celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary will be generally delighted with what they find, especially if they haven't been there in a few years.

Having been present on Opening Day, July 17, 1955, it will be sad for me not to be around for this momentous piece of history, and certainly this July I'll feel a pretty strong pang of nostalgia...but I am certainly encouraged that SaveDisney has clearly played its part in reminding Disneyland's caretakers of their duty to keep the park ever young, and ever fresh!

Does anyone else think that it's kind of sad that he's not going to the 50th? Even though he left the company, wouldn't you think he'd still go to the park, even if he had to pay some sort of fee?

If anyone does have any pics of Roy at Disneyland this past weekend, please post. I would like to see him reacting to how the park looks now. Mabye Roy riding my favorite ride, The Haunted Mansion! lol

Very sad indeed. He has more a right to be there than anyone.

Yeah, it is a bit sad, but I think he has dose much more for the park in a way by his absence...

He didn't leave the company, Micheal "Mr. Paranoia" Eisner drove him out...

Roy has a lot of pride... But to allow current management to use the opportunity to show he agrees with what has been done... I don't think he wants to trap himself this way... Why would he allow his presence to become a free PR pitch for managment he is on the record of disagreeing with?

Not being there sends a powerful message... But aplauding the work Matt has been doing sends the right message... Just my opinion...

The new president of the Disneyland Resort. He is the reason for all this money being put back into Disneyland.

It is a shame that Roy will not be able to attend on principle. Eisner should be ashamed of himself for driving him away.

Eisner should be *@%#ing barred from the place as far as I'm concerned. The very notion that a Disney is being made to feel unwelcome there boils my blood.

It's sad, I know. Plus, it's his family that started the whole disneyland thing, he should be there.
