  • No more Rockin' Space Mountain?

More recently commentors on Disney-fan sites and videos taken from Grad Nite 2006 has revealed that the full effects for Rockin' Space Mountain are not in place and that Walt Disney Imagineering has not fully completed the project, the reason being that Space Mountain was rushed to completion in time for the 50th (the original plans to open late November were pushed to July 15th) and in the process Rock It show elements were put on hold. Plus, it has been hinted that Rockin' Space Mountain may never be a reality, due to the fact that some special effects illuminate portions of the track, thus taking away Space Mountain's main distinction from other roller coasters.
They wouldnt stop this project just because the lighting shows too much of the track would they? That would be really dumb

Good riddance. The soundtrack was awful, and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't care about them. But Hoobastank?

Does anyone else think the ride looked like you were driving thru a road construction site at night with the stereo turned up way too loud.

I have to say I am not saddened by the loss. This whole Rocket Mountain thing sounded like just a cheap trick to get people into the park thinking that there is a new E ticket ride. Once there, I believe people would have been overwhelmingly disappointed. People want a new E ticket, not just a different soundtrack. This has always been a marketing trick and nothing really new.

Where is this quote from and how old is it?

Rockin' Space Mountain IS coming to the resort next year, but with a different soundtrack and some different effects than what were shown for Grad Nite 2006. But even that news is pretty old by now.

Disney Press Releases in the last couple of months have advertised "Rockin' Space Mountain" coming in early 2007, and also the CM magazine, "The Disneyland Line" has also promoted the attraction, which will be a overlay from around the second week in January thru mid-April of 2007.

It is coming, it is a bit different than the original "RockIt" version, as it will be offered from opening to close, and not a switch in the afternoon. But it is coming....

I'm praying that the new effects DO light up the track. Maybe I'd actually like the ride then.

Re: No more Rockin' Space Mountain?

Remember... this aint grad night... It's the main public, so they wouldn't play something as bad...

Something with rock, that fits the track, who they can arange a deal with...

then you got the effects that go with it...

even if some of the track is lit up, there is not as much problem... Ever ride RNRC? and some track is visable... same premiss..

When does "Rockin Mr. Toads" go under construction?
Ah, how strange! The molecules are so active now!
