Admission price hike and DCA

I see so many are surprised but resigned to the higher 1 day admission. I feel that Disney missed the boat again with it come to pricing DCA. While I feel that one day at Disneyland might justify $63, I cannot really see how DCA could justify that amount.

Now I do believe that DCA has much to offer, but not at that price. I really feel that the two parks need separate admission fees. That would boast DCA's attendance in the long run and remove the soar feeling one would get if one bought a one day admission to DCA and did not find a whole day of attractions.

Somehow I feel like these price hikes were sent "from one high," from the "Central committee" in Florida. This decision has come so close to WDW's price hike that one has to feel that the decision came from the same department. If one is native to So Cal, one realizes that this hike will put further strain on DCA's reputation, having to live up to that high a price.

Could not agree more, have said the same thing many times...If Disneyland is $63, then DCA should be in the $30-$35 range. Not a DCA bash, just an honest observation.

I think Disney is well aware of the disparity in value, but for reasons of PR and personal pride, won't adjust the admission prices.

Disneyland is well worth $63. DCA isn't.

DCA is worth the extra $20 for the park hopper, though.

If Disney were to price Disneyland at $63 and DCA at $20, they would be admitting that DCA is an inferior park... and they don't want to do that.

Not to me. If I paid $63 to get into DL, I wouldn't spend more to leave it for DCA. Every minute outside of DL would be a waste of valuable time. (Of course, I only go once or twice a year, so my time there is precious to me, regardless of my actual cost to enter.)

No, I don't have a solution, other than creating closer parking.

Besides, I don't think more than 1% of DCAs admissions for the day were via 1-day, non-parkhopper tickets. 1-day admission price is more like a placeholder for:
1. Multi-day tickets;
2. Employee club discounts;
3. Comparing competing parks;
4. Local 2-fer's;
5. Costco specials; and
6. Annual Passports.

I know that they don't want to admit it, but I really feel that some out-of-town guests will feel "stung" by paying the new price. That would make me mad, and I am sure some will not return to DCA because of it.

Oh, I'm sure there's more than price involved in guests' decisions not to return to DCA.

I like DCA. I don't like it as much as I like Disneyland, but everytime we go to "the resort" we spend a few hours in DCA. We are AP holders so the monetary impact is different. But, if I was buying a ticket, I'd still get the park hopper because DCA is definately worth the extra $20.

Tot, Screamin', Soarin', The Animation Building, Grizzly River Run are all very worthwhile attractions. The Cove Bar ain't half bad either!

There is stuff to do and things to see. Heck, we even had a fun time riding Heimlich's Choo Choo.

I don't think I'd pay $63 for DCA because, at least for me, it's a 4-hour park. But it's a good "add-on" to your Disneyland day.

Well then, how would you like to get into DL for only $20? First, buy this $63 ticket to DCA...

Meh. For me (not AP holder), it's not worth the time away from DL. For an AP who's seen all of DL, DCA is the perfect AP Lounge.

Nope you are wrong. we travelors love DCA and would pay the 20 extra bucks to get in every time. at least I would! I love dca, like tom said the rides are awsome in dca, and I love the place. I go to DCA usually for the day and will continue to do so. Heck we are spending Saturday the 7th of october all day in dca. and after is closes go to disneyland.

OMG....really?...yeah!!...although DL at night causes me some concern, but thankfully there is enough beer in DCA for me to overcome them and brave DL after dark....(ok it would only take 2 beers...:blush:...LOL)

But it shouldn't be priced equally, and that's been my chief complaint about the park from the very beginning.
I'm sure that if it were located in, say, West Covina (just for example), standing by itself without a park-hopper or 2-for-1 with the best theme park ever made across the way, I'm sure there are some people that would pay 11 bucks to park, and 63 more to get in. I just wouldn't be one of them.

I'm from out of town, (way out of town) and I didn't feel stung. I like California Adventure more than Disneyland anyways.

I mean, when you spend thousands of dollars to get there. Is an extra 20 bucks going to kill you?

In the past, I thought nothing of taking a girl to Disneyland, but now, with the price hikes, I guess I'll be limited to only dating girls with annual passes.

For an AP who's seen all of DL, DCA is the perfect AP Lounge.

I do that all the time. I (an AP holder) go to DCA first and hang out there, then go to DL, a lot of the times after DCA closes.

The price si intended to encourage people to buy park hoppers and when it comes to SOuthern California residents to encourage them to buy Annual passes or to reschedule their trips on off seasons when the so-call salute is offered.

No onw really pays the full price for the parks anymore. Tourist buy multiday passes and many locals go for either the annual passes or during the so cal residnet salute seasons.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...but when DCA first opened, it was seperate admission only because they were expecting better attendance. The other plans came into being to get more people into DCA after its initial very dissappointing performance. If I am wrong, please let me know.

All I remember when I visited 2 weeks after it opened was that you couldn't park hop. I do not believe it was seperate admission.

Admittedly, if a non-AP holding guest just wanted to visit DCA for the day, he or she would be getting ripped off at the current price.

Very few guests will visit the Disneyland Resort and only visit DCA. The one-day admission price to DCA is a red herring. You're visiting Disneyland and tacking DCA on.
