Evacuation through Main Street USA Backstage (VIDEO!) - 9/15/06

Earlier tonight for some reason, we got evacuated through backstage Main Street USA on the way out of the park. It was kinda interesting, we got to see the locker area, a break room and the back of the kitchen for the candy shop. For the most part it just looks like the back of a warehouse (Which is what it is for the most part).

Of course, I got plenty of footage We went in through Coke Corner and came out right next to the Fire Station. Sorry for the Sepia color filter. I was using it to get a better video of the Indiana Jones new rat projector and forgot to switch it back before taking this video.

I'm so very tempted to make this video public...

Interesting...I left right before you took that video. There was a lot of congestion (spelling) at the entrance to Adventureland during the fireworks, the most people in that area that I have ever seen.

I was once exited out that way by Disney do to extreme crowds. It was back in 1996, right after something had just glowed away

I posted a thread called "crowd control issues" about the crowding/confusion/congestion that is created now since they went away from having a walkway in front of the castle or in the middle of the hub, to in fact no walkway at all. It now causes everyone to go back down mainstreet and around. Probably not what happened here but the fact that there is much less crowd control and still a big draw for Remember issues are bound to come up.

The same thing happened when I was there last December.We also got evecuated.It was VERY VERY intresting! My sister even took pics with some cast members..

I've had this happen also during major crowding. Except it was just me, the CM let go through back stage, since I was by myself. Must have looked like I was in a hurry, but it was nice to just breeze right out!

Same thing happened to me when I was there Labor Day weekend. It was the night of Labor Day and they had to cancel Remember due to upper level winds that could pose a fire danger. The cast members were notifying everyone that if they want a "fastpass" to the exit, go through the doors (by Plaza Pavilion/Coke Corner corner) that lead behind the stores. It was neat. I got to see 2 backstage areas that night (Splash broke down).

Disneyland have been use this exit so there is not big clogged of people down main Street. Ever time Disney do the Remenbers Fire works.
Remember there are people standing in main Street and all new Guest come from anothere part of the park want to get out.

I guess because it's a different side of DL? I saw behind the other side of Main Street (Kodak, Magic Shop, etc. side) a few years ago. It wasn't anything special, but it was still cool to see, I thought.

Eventhough backstage really isn't all that "spiffy," it's like seeing your teacher at the grocery store. You're out of your normal scenario and seeing them in a whole different situation-and while it really isn't anything to call home about-is still intriguing. I saw the backside of Space Mountain once, as well as the character break room and the real fire station...and while it wasn't elaborate, it was still exciting as hell to see!

For me, it just makes it all the more magical! I love seeing how things are done...I love the inner workings...it's amazing all that goes into the Disney universe!

It enhances the magic for me. I'm continually amazed and impressed by how much Disney can hide behind facades. Truly magical.
