ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRG! POTC down again!

So my wife, rugrat, and I have been up since 5:30am to do the Disneyland 5K (pictures coming later) and all I ask after our adventure was completed was to ride POTC! UGH! The freakin' ride broke down again! Just after a quick 30 minute wait we were not more than 25 people from the boats and the lines stopped moving, the magical rope went up to block the entrance, and I had a friend via cel phone at Pieces Of Eight trying to find out what happened.

15 mins later a POTC CM comes out and says everyone has to exit! By this time the rugrat has reached his Baby Bjorn limit! Upset, mad at all POTC technicians, and CMs I storm out of line and head up to Disney Galleria to FINALLY take in the movie props. That settled me down just slightly!

Anyway we will see if the ride comes back up in working order in the next oh say four weeks? UGH!

In all seriousness. That's just tough luck for you. I hope you read the print on your ticket that read, "All attractions are subject to close without notice."

I think it is totally awful that you would get mad at the cast members who do nothing more than happen to be there and you are getting mad at them?

I got stuck on POTC for almost an hour one time, but it was well worth the wait. Although, I cringe everytime I pass the mayor getting dunked in the well scene because they didn't turn off the soundtrack to the ride for the whole hour we were stuck. I got to see all kinds of cool backstage stuff, like the 50's looking breakroom's and such. It was also kinda fun hopping boat to boat, felt like I was doing something I definately shouldn't have been doing!

Anyways, it better be working when I get there on the 25th for my honeymoon or I will be highly upset! It would be just my luck that would happen too!

I was there Saturday mid morning. It closed for like 15 minutes and then reopened. I walked by several other times during the day into the early evening on Saturday, and Pirates was chugging right along all day Saturday with fast moving lines.

Yes because we know that its all those barely above minimum wage, college age CM's who purposely break the rides for hours on end so that irate guests can scream at them and call them names.

I'm sorry... but when my 5' 2" daughter was 18 and working there I heard way to many horror storys from her about how older, taller "guests" would get right in her face and yell and scream at her and blame her when something broke down or didn't go right. (Any wonder she only worked there a year and a half).

All the rides are mechanical and or electronic... stuff happens. Trust me, the techs don't like having to try to figure out what when wrong and try to fix it any more than you like to be inconvenienced... and seriously thats all it was.

Think about that and picture that its YOUR kid working at Disneyland and having to take verbal abuse from a total stranger for something they have NO control over.

people.. he didn't say he went off on people.. he was just typing out his frustration.. Stop jumping to conclusions that he went off on the CMs. He didn't say that at all.

He knows its not the CM who broke the ride.. he just needed to focus the frustration somewhere in his head

But he said he was 'mad at the PotC technicians.' Why? Did they break it? We're talking about very complex machinery here where things can/will break. I wonder what was broken. The only thing I could think of, which I hear is really common, is the conveyor belt that leads to the first drop, regularly doesn't catch the boat so it gets stuck.

POTC broke down at 10:50pm 9-16-06.My boat got to listen to that frickin' Camp town races banjo 100 frickin' times,some people bailed at the tunnel 25 minutes in and exited blue bayou.then 4 boats mutinied started paddling the boats back to the loading dock,Video at 11pm.

... just like you are mad at all the traffic in front of you when you are stuck in traffic. Is it their fault they are stuck in the same situation you are? No. Stop taking things so literally. The guy was just typing about being frustrated.

people get mad at the traffis in front of them??...seriously??...LOL..that is the silliest thing I have heard of....I admit I do get a bit frustrated at the idiot who caused the accident, but not everyine sitting in the traffic....LOL

People get mad at traffic all the time.. and unfortunatly most of the time its not caused by accidents. Live in an area with real traffic and all it takes is a phase of the moon to give a 15 mile backup

I was there yesterday for the evening and it broke down right after the 1st showing of fantasmic. We were in line and then left. I did ride it before that for the first time...and thumbs up from me for the refurbs!!

I get stuck in traffic all the time (I use the 405, the 110, and the 91 regularly). But I don't get frustrated at the person in front of me because of it. I say "Well that's L.A. for ya." I just deal with it.

Hopefully they will fix the POTC problem when they close it down for the Elizabeth Swan/Will Turner additions.

It seems to go down fairly regularly right now. That's why I made sure it was my first stop when I went a few weeks ago. Sure enough, later that afternoon, my friend and I passed by and the line was cleared out and the doors were shut.

I always maintain do what you really want to do as early as possible for very few rides break down first thing. This comes from too many nights of saving Indy for last only to met with a closed attraction.

Yeah but the OP has made other posts complaining how the rides aren't open and perfect 24/7. God forbid one of them breaks down during the day. Pirates went down Friday afternoon and I got stuck in it for about 10-15 minutes right in front of the Captain's Quarters sequence and I didn't b**** it once. I actually thought it was cool. Maybe the music might have gotten annoying an hour or so into it but I've heard the soundtrack on my own free will many times that I didn't even think of it two days ago. This ride also went down the first night it reopened and I was pretty damn close to getting on it but I didn't get to go on it that night. Like others have said, you just need to cool off and not even think of taking it out on the CM's. Not their fault. :thumbdown

Hey, that is the beauty of a public forum. If he wishes to write a rant he is entitled to it. Whether or not people agree or even respond is a different issue. If he rants and nobody cares, the thread will die away. If it arouses conversation then why not? Either way, nobody is hurt, his feelings are stated, and it is in the hands of the populas what becomes of the thread.

Woooooooooooooooo! Hoooooooooooooooo! POTC was back up and running this morning around 11:00am! I rode it two times with my wife and 5.5 month old who loved it! How could I tell...he was looking all around and making happy noises! I too was making happy noises!

Now I LOVE :yea: all POTC technicians and CMs! And NO I do not shout at people when I am angry...I simply type my words and hit spell check! My keyboard suffers the brunt of the pain! Nor do I wield a weapon when driving on the 405 or 710 in heavy traffic when someone cuts me off! There are enough weirdos in this state that fill that quota!
