Re: Questions on the changed pirate ride
Okay, let me see if I can get most of it. Here are the physical changes I can remember at the moment. There are 3 separate Capt Jack's in the ride. One near where the guy is getting dunked in the well, one in the barrel behind the guy with the pigs (who is also holding "the treasure map") and one at the end where the pirates used to be trying to get the load of treasure up the hill. The Capt on the ship in the battle scene has been changed to Barbosa. The splashes from the cannon balls hitting the water were all fixed and there have been larger splashes added. There is a cool fog screen that Davy Jones is projected onto. Well thats all I can remember at the moment.
The entire story line has been changed however, but not everyone can actual tell what the story is supposed to be now. When you get to the fog screen (which is just before the battle scene) he has different sayings for you one is after you hear "Dead Men Tell No Tells" he comes up and says "Ahh but they do tell tells says I", and there are others he says. When you enter the battle scene Barbosa is yelling for them to give up Jack Sparrow, so now the reason the ship (which they wanted to change to the Black Pearl but could'nt get the rights) is there attacking is because they want Capt Jack. Then where the guy is getting dunked the capt is trying to get him to tell him where Capt Jack is as well and you can see Capt Jack peeking around the corner. The guy with the pig is saying how he would like to see the look on Capt Jack Sparrow's face if he knew that that guy had the map and you see Capt Jack's head coming out of the barrel behind him and looking at the map. At the end you see Capt Jack sitting in a throne surronded by the treasure drinking and happy where he has several sayings followed by "Drink up me hearty's yo ho!'
Wether the changes are good or not is a matter of opinion. Alot of Disneyland purist/traditionalist do not like it because the story has changed and people are now calling it the Jack Sparrow or Johnny Depp ride and worse yet some people actually think that the ride came after the movie!! Alot of the younger people love the changes. Its all a matter of opinion.
I know I missed some stuff so if anyone else can help that would be great!

Re: Questions on the changed pirate ride
DisneyGeek75's description is pretty good. I can't tell you how many times I've ridden the attraction since the year it opened. Frankly, I never knew there was any story line to it. It just seemed like a fun excursion through the world of pirates. Now there is a bit of a story line.
IMHO, the enhancements didn't hurt the ride one bit. It's still Pirates Of The Caribbean... just with a few new things added. The new cannon ball splashes are really fun. They used to just go "bloop." Now, if you're lucky (or unlucky, depending on your attitude) you may actually get wet!
I think you'll love it."Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

My only criticism is that the AA figure of Barbossa looks NOTHING like Geoffrey Rush does in the films. Can't figure out how they could bobble that so badly.

Re: Questions on the changed pirate ride
For a fact: I found out on Wikipedia that the Black Pearl was the Wicked Wench before the movies. Which is odd since both ships don't resemble each other.
Heres the link to the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Pearl
Just to let you know, for those who don't know.
