  • Flash Pictures

Went through the Grand Canyon/Primeval World twice this weekend and both times the CMs on the train had to state multiple times to not take flash pictures and to turn off the camcorder light.
When I say multiple I mean maybe 4-5 times during our trip through the dioramas. Of course this all ruins the ambiance.
I've come to the conclusion that these people that continue to take flash pictures are either 1)Deaf 2)Non-English speakers 3)Just plain oblivious.
    Anyone else experience this?

    Re: Flash Pictures

To many times to count. The only time my wife or I will take pictures with flash on a dark ride is if it is late at night and there are at least a car or two between us and the next vehicle. Usually us being the only ones in the vehicle. That way we don't disturb anyone else and we've actually only ever had one CM tell us not to. And he appologized when we got off as he realized there was literally NO ONE else on the HM at the time.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

I've noticed that as well. A LOT more warnings lately.

I can only blame it on one thing...

      NIMRODS!

(well, maybe two...Maybe someone sued DL because of trauma to their eyeballs due to the flash backfiring into their face from the glass shield protecting the dinosaurs! Sad, but probably closer to the truth than you might imagine! LOL)

      Enjoy!

I really only noticed this on the train. They even went so far as to announce: 'There is a pane of glass in front of you, your pictures will not turn out if you use a flash'.

It is selfishness - the idea that rules apply to eveyone else but "me" - and if "I" want something - "I" should have it - afterall - "I" am more important than "you."

Most of this comes from guest idiocy, but you sometimes get involved in this because of overreacting CMs. It is rare, but I've had the occasional CM yell at me for something that is almost over the line, but I know is not prohibited. For example, I got yelled at (and I do mean yelled) on the tram because my elbow was sticking out about an INCH from the tram. What, are we going through a VERY small tunnel that I don't know about? Sheesh.

Again, it is rare, but it happens.

              Re: Flash Pictures

This type of thing is commonplace. I cannot think of a time in the last few years that I have been travelling through the Grand Canyon/Primeval World sections that there has not been the announcement regarding NO flash photography followed closely by one or more persons taking flash pictures. For the most part (from their conversations before or after the fact) the guests have neither hearing issues nor are they unable to understand English. I think that they are not even listening to the CMs. Not to the pre-recorded spiels nor to the live warnings/announcements. Either that or they do not care. What is worse than the Railroad Flashers (if you will ) are the ones who ruin PotC with their out of control flash picture taking. Sometimes it is NUTS in there and the CMs seem to not be able to do anything about the problem. Last weekend my husband and I were dining in the Blue Bayou and a boat load of SCREAMING guests went by. The screaming did not stop and finally ten or so empty boats went by because the CMs did not want to subject more guests to the mayhem. But I guess that is another story.

Its commonplace, its idiotic, and its my #1 peeve at the park. Flash is bad, but not as bad as the camcorder mounted lights. Nothing quite ruins Indy like a giant flash light showing where every hidden turn and drop is...

Its just always going to happen.
I don't condone it, but have been guilty of it myself sometimes.
I try to follow the rules, but certain photo ops are just too enticing.
That is the truth, I am not proud of it. For the most part, I abstain from flashes...

And also at the end with the hitchhiking ghosts, it won't work cause it's a mirror. The dumbest one I've seen was in Turtle Talk when they have the FISH do a routine saying no flash photography. Yet someone did it. Also, I've noticed recently that the CM's on PotC usually never get on the mircophone and say "No Flash." I've seen at least ten people do it and have never heard it once.

the bigger issue is if the attraction wasn't worth taking a picture of. THEN it would be a problem.

It's quite funny when people take flash pictures during the dioramas on the train.. they hardly ever come out becasue the flash bounces off of the glass causing an incredibly bright blobbly picture... I just laugh as they waste their film and money.

Yeah, nothing ruins pirates like a video camera light AND up to the second narration. Ugh..

To live would be an awfully big adventure.
