  • A Thought About Jay Rasulo

Just curious what everyone thinks. I was reflecting on some of the personnel changes in WDC since Iger took over. It seems that instead of there being mass beheadings when he came to power, that some folks were slowly removed following perceived failings. The studios are an example, where both live action and animation have had their leaders changed. So that got me thinking about about the theme parks. Obviously the 50th has been a big success, so no changes are obviously going to be made this year. But then we have this big "Where Dreams Come True" gimmick. After the success of the 50th, it seems nearly impossible to me that any kind of program will be able to sustain the growth experienced this year. Since we all seem pretty convinced that this next year will not only fail to live up to this year, but fall completely flat, it made me wonder if this might be it for Rasulo. Could Iger use this next year as an excuse to remove Rasulo from to top of theme parks? Is there any possibility of this happening?

Not unlike the ending of the Cold War. The defeat of Paul Pressler, the "regime change" of Eisner to Iger, the fan centric 50th, and entrance of the Kennedyes-que John Lassiter has left Micechatters without an arch enemy to fret over. So we must find one fast.

Now it's Jay Rasulo. (Not that he may not qualify), but nevertheless we have to have something to worry about.

I would like to see not only Jay out, but his entire position removed from the heirarchy. It doesn't serve a purpose beyond beauracratic bloat. I can understand wanting to consolidate information, decisions, etc from a business standpoint, but it just doesn't work quite the same way with Disney. He may be a great guy, but as a Disney employee, he's all wrong. I would like to think that this falling on it's face will provide the impetus for his removal and the rethinking of a lot of "ways of doing things" that have sprung up in recent years at WDC.

I like to think of it more like the deck of cards in Iraq, with the faces of the most wanted men on them. Seriously though, my impression is that everyone here thinks that there are still a lot of changes that need to be made at the WDC to bring it back to what it should be. Getting rid of a couple of guys doesn't mean everything is "fixed."

No, getting rid of a couple of guys doesn't fix things... but it opens up the door for things to get fixed.

Oh absolutely. I'm not saying that what has happened isn't good. It is, fantastic even. Just not enough. To me, WDC still looks too much like it did with Eisner in charge.
