Is Dumbo Going To Fly Over The Fireworks?

OK ....This is JUST A RUMOUR OR WISH or whatever they call it in these posts.

I have often thought of TINKERBELL'S flight across the Castle was nice during the fireworks, but what other characters could also fly....

My wife thought the GENIE from ALLADIN should go and I thought DUMBO. Then... lo and behold, DUMBO is featured flying over the castle on a recent poster....

So -- could this be a foreshadow of a new twist on the Fireworks show?

Nah. I saw the show last night. I don't even think there was a MENTION of Dumbo.

In the old days, Dumbo DID fly over the castle on occasion(using the old system). The New Year's Baby has also taken a trip across the old zip line once or twice. I think the zip line is Tink's domain for the time being

I can't imagine any other character flying on that line other than her. She was AMAZING last night. It really looked like she was flying around the castle and making the fireworks go off with the flick of her wand.

I just saw the video, and I seemed to think they had tried to do a vision of a Dumbo firework effect with multiple shots at one point...will have to see it in person to be sure. It doesn't sound like any of the Chosen Ones from last night caught it.

Going way back to the summer of '64 Mary Poppins appeared on Tink's wire. I believe it was following the fireworks and it was a mannequin that went up the wire as a promotion for the film.

ORWEN: Well, anyway, this topic reminds me of one I brought up YEARS ago on another web-footed site. At the time, I had suggested that Disneyland and Disney World BOTH have a whole parade of flying characters over their castles. You could start with Tinkerbell, add Dumbo--regardless of what a certain nasty old biddy says--have Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, The Gump from Return to Oz and the flying bed from Bedknobs & Broomsticks. I'm telling you it would work and make more than one jaw drop from--

I think the bed from bed knobs would be awsome.. I'd pay big money to ride on that!

I knew Tink and Mary Poppins were on the wire.. but DUMBO? What's that about?

I know at WDW they have a witch for Halloween, which kinda stunk, they should have had a respectable model of the SB Dragon to fly over, we can connect better with a scene if it shows a character we truly know

But anyway, since Tink is the "Unofficial" mascot of the parks, I see no reason to change it. Long live our little pixy friend :bow:

there is a video of the fireworks on www.remainseated.com that gives you a good idea of tinks flyover with one close up- I believe she appears twice and her flight is much more trickey than it ever has been- I was worried about he wings getting singed!

If you view the remainseated.com clip, at the point where Tink reappears (about time mark 16:16), the firework image looks very much like an elephant. Of course, the camera is pulling back, so it's impossible to say for sure just by viewing the video clip.

Maybe everyone was focusing on Tinker Belle?

I also thought the ghost effect of the fireworks (at 9:26, if you're counting) and the train effect (11:27) were also marvelously done.

Once again, Disney has shown us how, when they do things right, they do it better than anyone else on the planet.

anywho I'd perfer not to see other characters up on that zipline

maybe for a special event but no character parades that's just kinda tacky really

Tinkerbell adds just a touch of class to things like the fireworks and the old Disneyland tvshow openings and whatnot
