We were recently told that Marshmallow and Yam died because they were overfed. Apparently most turkeys reach a maximum of about 20 lbs. before they are slaughtered. In order to get to that weight, they are overfed. We were told Marshmallow and Yam reached around 80 lbs. each before passing! For some reason, their diet was not changed. I hope someone does something to improve the diet for the turkeys this year.

Re: Why Marshmallow and Yam died
Too bad they didn't offer 'em up for dinner at the Plaza Inn!
Those turkeys lived an extra 10 months past their normal due date; Thanksgiving. They had a good run, and brought happiness to many, many people living out their last days there at Disneyland.
It was a very clever marketing promotion for Disneyland to pull off. The CM I talked to at the Ranch a while back said it was even more succesful than the Marketing Department had thought it would be, and they'll be doing it again with the Presidential turkeys this Thanksgiving.
I wonder what they'll name this years turkeys?
By the way SeenTheLight, welcome to the boards. This turkey comment was your first post. Congratulations!

Matter of fact...I did see a set of Turkey Legs that looked bigger than usual, on an ODV cart.
Now what goes with a presidential turkey leg? Hmm... wait, I know just the right wine to serve!

This image of your cat, fully dressed, requesting a photo shoot (in an English accent mind you) just really got to me. Wow, I need to go catch my breath and maybe see what was in that bottled water I was drinking earlier...

I'm trying to picture the oven for an 80 pound turkey. I had no idea they could get that big. I mean...you would need a forklift, no? :blink:To view more of my photos, please visit: William McIntosh PhotographyMac Daddy's Autumn, 2011 Photo Thread
