  • Traffic Troubles

    I tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for.

    Seems like there is always traffic on the I-5 going to the resort. I've drove down at all various times such as weekends, weekday mornings, weekday afternoons, and weekday nights. The one time there was little traffic was a weekday at around 10pm.

    Is there any other better route than the 5? Or possibly a time that it is less busy?

    Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

    Re: Traffic Troubles

    I drive past it every morning on the way to work, never any traffic. Of course it is about 4:30 - 5 in the morning. A tad early for you I am thinking.
    If I can't be a good roll model at least let me be a bad example.

      I drive the 5 every day for work, from Glendale to Irvine. Where exactly are you hitting the traffic, I may have some alternates.

        I'm not too fluent with all the areas down there but I'll go with what I know. It always seems like the most traffic is in the stretch between the 101 and the 91.

        Seems like my only options are to drive really early or really late.

          I usually hit traffic around the sanata ana downey area...maybe a bit before and it clears up as soon as the freeway opens with all those wonderful lanes.....sometimes I ahve been in traffic from griffith park to where the freeway opens up agagin...that was a sad day.

            I go from the 91 to the 5. I never see much traffic on the 5 but the 91 is always packed.

              I may have the names of these freeways wrong, but. I take the 14 to the 5 and the 5 all the ay to DL. The san fernando 5 is usually ok, but the santa ana 5 is usually full of gridlock.

                      Ive got the same problem as you. I take the 5 all the way down and the only time Ive had NO traffic is about 8am on weekends.

                        Re: Traffic Troubles

                        Last 3 trips we've come down the 5 between noon and 5pm and we've never had traffic problems. This summer we hit some traffic up in Glendale area but never slower than about 40 mph. After that it was crowded but freeway speed all the way to Harbor.

                          Welcome to So Cal.... where there is always traffic.

                          of course if you want to see real traffic you can alway try boston or the D.C. beltway.

                            Re: Traffic Troubles

                            Or for REAL traffic try London (the M5) or Rome. But if you're going through LA to Disneyland after 10:30 a.m., try the following:

                            101 south to the 710 south;
                            710 south to the 105 east;
                            105 east to the 605 south;
                            605 south to the 91 east;
                            91 east to Harbor Boulevard, or to the 5 south, exit Ball Road

                            Somewhat cumbersome, but I've timed myself on several different freeways, and that one seems to be the least overall time.

                              Hey All!

                              I'm going to be in CA this weekend for a loss in the family. It looks like my brother and I will be able to sneak down to Disneyland on Sunday. We'll be driving in from Victorville. Looks like MapQuest has us taking I-15 to 91 around Carona, then 57, exit Ball Rd, then Left on S Harbor. I'll plan on getting to DL before gates open. Does anyone foresee any trouble with this route?

                              Many thanks!

                                That early? Probably not.

                                  I'm sorry and forgive me if I'm out of line but can I assume the loss in your family is not a close family member? Because if I lost a CLOSE family member Disneyland would be the LAST thing on my mind.

                                  Forgive me if I offend you with that question. I was just curious.

                                      You don't say from where in Northern California you are starting, but, have you considered driving down the 405 and then cutting over on the 55? It will take you below Disneyland but unless you are driving at 3 p.m. or later there wont be traffic and there is a great car pool lane that swings you over the 55 to 5 transition and then exits you right into the Timon lot ( if it is open this is ideal). I am not a freeway maven, so no promises.

                                        How long will it take to drive from Burbank airport to Disneyland on a typical Wed evening around 6. I am hoping NO LONGER than 90 min? Am I in for a HUGE shock??
