Part One: It has everything

Very good book called Disneyland: Inside Story which features tons of old Disneyland Photos including programing america sings, raising the peak during the construction of BTM, and photos of lillian showing walt the petrified tree in Frontierland.

Part two: The map is so wrong!

The covers each feature a park map that features lots of things that never happened. It was created around 1959-1960 and is also featured in the Disney Treasures #1 set. The map features the viewliner going around the Submarine Voyage with no station or monorail or matterhorn. It also features something called Hobbyland in tomorowland which I don't know what that is. It also features a ghost town version of Fronterierland featuring the haunted mansion and pirates wax exhibit. Lastly, it features the original layout of liberty and edison square. Once again it's a very cool book and I am glad to share it all with you!

I own a copy of that book as well. I just finished it, like, 5 minutes ago. It is very good, but as you said,the map is wrong.

There is nothing wrong with the map. What it shows is how proud Walt was of his park and the success it would have. It was this sort of detailed planning, not throwing things in attraction by attraction, that set Disneyland above the rest.

Yup, as stated above, the map is not "wrong." The first Sam McKim map (the one you're talking about) was printed pre-1959 plussing (Matterhorn, Monorail, etc). If you can see the small details like the map legend, you'll see that the planned Pirates and Haunted attractions are marked as "Future Attractions." Same thing with Liberty Square. Don't think of it as wrong. Think of it as a snapshot of what Disneyland could have become.

Just saying that the map shows the subs without a Matterhorn or Monorail.

The book is no longer in print. You will have to buy it used at an outlet such as Amazon.com or eBay.

The book has been sadly out-of-print as was mentioned above...for a long time. It was written by a good friend of mine, Imagineer and Disney Legend, Randy Bright. Randy was one of the great, great ones and he did so much for the various Disney parks. His work on Epcot was especially important to the company and appreciated by millions each year.

You may not hear his name as much as the McKims, and Davis' and such...but he was one of the biggies, and I don't think you'd find an Imagineer that would disagree with that.

He was tragically struck down and killed in his prime in a bicycle accident just a few years after the book was published. A terrible loss. I'll treasure my copy which he autographed and gave to me, always. He was one of the good guys.

The Randy Bright book is my all time favorite book on the park. I was fortunate to get one when it was in print. I occassionally see them on ebay but ususually pretty pricey.
