what? you are afraid? hon if you want me to go on it with you just let me know I will holdd your hand I will be going on the 7th and 8th. if your there and want me to go on with you just ask, I will be glad to hold you thru the drop

I know the feeling Walt Jr. I am terrified to go on that ride too. I am going to DL in February and promised myself that I would ride it. I have a feeling that when I get there and see the drop I'm going to be a chicken. I'll have to force myself to do it.

Can you handle POTC drops? Splash isn't much more than that. IF the first drop in POTC is not uncomfortable to you, Splash should be fine. If the first drop bothers you a lot, to the extent you dont ride, then you shouldn't try Splash. I hope you will try it because the ride is great, and it would be teh pits if the 2 second drop prevented you from seeing the rest of it.

The drop isn't bad at all, I would just go on it. The theming is really nice inside. I was scaried of the ride until 3 years ago, and I came off of it and what to ride it again and again. Don't be scared about it, just go for it!

Because when you think about it the log is just flying down on the account of gravity and not attached to the track? Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I was told..

The drop is only 45 degrees (90 degrees is straight down), nothing to worry about. Disney has done a good job with the show building themeing, to make it look worse than it is. If Splash was just a flume/track with nothing around it, it'd look MUCH different.

Yes, gravity is what makes that drop happen. And the whole thing is not on a "track" really but floating between the barriers on either side - like most of the boat rides.

I too have been too chicken to go on that ride very often. I think the total can be counted on one hand. But I have gone twice in the past few weeks while "training" for Gumball. I have gotten to the point where I can really enjoy the old America Sings friends and the other characters. The last hill heading toward that drop is the worst, but the drop itself is quite fun!

And is Splash Mtn. more popular than Indy??

I've been on Splash several times - certainly not every time I go to DL. And every time I go on it , the whole time I'm saying to myself - why did I get on this ride? I hate that drop! And then after it is over, I'm just fine. The rest of the ride I love!

And the drop is much longer than Pirates! Plus you can see over the edge before you plummet.

I'd say do it. If a big wuss like me can handle it, anyone can!

really? the first drop on POTC bothers me at times. but of course i still go on it. (it's pirates!) does anyone know where i could look up the actual specifics of the two drops? (degrees, length, other stuff lke that) i love POTC, but am almost scared to death of going on splash. it's one of only 2 rides at DL i have never been on (that and space mt.)

If I can You can! Seriously! Let me tell you my tales of woe and triumph involving Splash Mountian. The first time I went on it I was around 12. I agreed to go on because I wanted to see the inside (the reason I do most rides I swear I'll never do...HELLO TOT!!). I did REALLy well through the begining of the ride, even as the drops inside got larger, I enjoyed them. THEN we climbed that darn hill at the end. THAT is really the worst part. Now, when SM first opened my Aunt and Uncle were among the first public to ride the ride and got stuck on the top, right before the drop and had told us how awesome it was to walk down out of the ride. I remembered this and as we got closer to the top I felt sick and decided I too was going to walk down and started to climb OUT of the boat. THe picture has Mom holding me in with both hands. I hated it and swore NEVER ever to set foot on the devil ride again. (Sidenote: Later that day I got very ill, threw up on one of the banners advertising the Lion King Parade, right outside the Fantasyland Theatre, spent the rest of the day sleeping on benches around the park...but that's another story) Fast Forward 9 years. A group of friends and I running around Disneyland when the dreaded request finally arrises. Let's do Splash. I shake my head and said, I don't do that. Of course everyone moans. But one guy in our group (my Disney Kindered Spirit, Eric) says he doens't enjoy it, but he'll go if I go. He'll even sit behind me and hold my hand. Whew. Not one to turn down an offer from a boy (got me on Screamin!) I went. Was tense and didn't enjoy a moment of the inside. But Got through it and enjoyed it. THe whole point is to relax. If you try to fight against the feeling of falling it will suck. but if you relax a little, it isn't so bad. I'm now up to 6 times on Splash and will even sit in front (which I discovered was not as scary as the back.) Long and Short of this drawn out tale is - You can do it! I have faith that you can, because I can!

I just go for the dark rde aspect of it...after that i jump out of the log before i get to the incline...theres an exit door right there! Just tell a CM and they can track you and than hold the door open for you just before the incline.

I'm with you I will not do TOT or maliboomer or any other rollercoaster for that matter. I mean had a panic attack when I got onto POTC for the first time. I also have a question how many drops are actually in Splash Mountain because my cousin told me one?
