Excuse me if i sound stupid but.. I don't really understand the whole "Monorail Blue" thing. I have only been to DLR once and that was many years ago. So if someone could inform me with all thses monorails and their colors that would be nice. Thanks!
Thanks to RobsMustang and to Darkbeer for getting these pictures up. It's really pretty interesting to see what's happening with Monorail. Keep 'em coming.
The track has not been touched since the Monorails closed down to allow for building a new loading ramp for the Tomorrowland Station (Disney also took the opportunity to paint the DtD station).
There is no plans to reroute the track. There was some rumors of doing some maintenance work to help the track last longer, but nobody has seen that happen.
Blue is all stripped down, no windows, doors or running gear.
"And notice this, this monorail has no windows and no doors, which offers you this chilling challenge. To take pictures of the Submarine Lagoon Progress! HA HA HA HA!
Ofcourse, there's always MY way."
*Lights go out and ceiling diappears as we see the giant face of Harold from the Matterhorn Illuminated by the flashes of Disney Fanboy cameras trying to get a good shot of the lagoon*.
What exacltly are they doing to the monorails? Are they changing the track at all or just fixing/updating the cars? It would be cool if the monorail went to the backside of DCA or to Mickey and Friends.
Disneyland is get the new looking Monorail the Mark IIV or VII (7)
Some on this board is photo of the new Monorail look.
Robsmustang Live close to where the new monorail is getting bulid
Try to see the new look before Monorail get on the track.

That works, too. Professional Photogs bring three or four camera bodies and a half-dozen lenses to a shoot, so they always have what they need to get the shots even if one camera breaks - but you are talking serious money, too.
The cheaper way to do that is to keep the old film camera or first-generation digial you had 'in service' and usable when you go buy a fancy new one. I have the "Good" Sony Mavica CD-1000 and the "Pocket" Olympus digital. (You can consider the camera in your cellphone to be a 'backup' also.)
Then again, I still have four rolls of Kirkland Signature 35MM ISO-400 film in the back fridge for the old Fuji point-and-shoot in case I get really desperate to take a picture...
Also, were they planning on opening the WHOLE beam for the holidays? That monorail is sure going to be whacking into a lot of trees on its way into Downtown Disney station.
Of course they won't be hitting branches - I'll bet they have the whole operation pre-planned between the Horticulture Department and the Monorail Roundhouse crew to do the needed tree trimming. They probably do it every week or two during the summer, they just have to send them around two days before reopening the Monorail, and allow one day for drive testing the trains (and possibly a Soft Open for testing) before the Offficial Reopening.
They have work trailers that can hitch up behind the Monorail Tractors. I'll bet the procedure is to get a Roundhouse CM to drive the tractor, and two or three tree trimmers with saws and cutters on the trailer, and you would need a "Monorail Profile Guide Hoop" mounted on the front of the trailer to show exactly how far back they need to cut the trees.
The only special training needed is for the tree trimming CMs to have safety harness 'Fall Prevention' training, falling out of the trailer would be a bad thing... Drop the branches to the ground, and a cleanup crew can follow them with a small dump truck and a brush chipper.
ok i got some new pictures today i have just sent them to Darkbeer to post up for me. there are pics of the chassis striped. plus i believe the new bodies are there under tarps next to the old bodies ( sorry no pics of that camara batts. died)
Dead Batteries?! :mob: Tie him to the Mainmast! Fifty Lashes with a Wet Noodle!
Okay, I'll let you off with a warning :rules: but don't let it happen again.
Go get a spare set of batteries and always carry them with the camera - most decent camera cases have a zipper pouch or a side pocket where you can stash an extra set of batteries and a second memory card.
Remember, Murphy's Law says the really good stuff always happens after the batteries have died or you filled up the memory card. (Or you run out of film, if you still use that stuff.) Never let yourself get into that position, fake out Murphy by having spares with you.

Heh. I'm not going to be walking from Mickey & Friends any time soon, in that case.
But, what gives? Do they usually rely on the monorail traffic to take care of trees? I would imagine they wouldn't even try to grow in a place that such regularly is disturbed. Trees are... erm... smarter than that.

Maybe they'll hand everyone a machete and save a couple of bucks on tree-trimming expenses.

Way back in post #16 in this thread, I expressed the opinion that I didn't think this was, in fact, the Disneyland Monorail. I was, apparently, confused by the lack of the "nosecone." Obviously this is Monorail Blue. I apologize for my mistake.
