  • When a door is closed, a window is opened...

My heart was broken. I had the opportunity to dine at Club 33, but couldn't go. All seemed lost. My will to go on was ebbing like the tide. Until...

I GOT MY LETTER FROM CLUB 33!!! Okay, okay. So, it's only to be placed on the waiting list, but still! It took around 9 months or so to get the letter after my first request, so I count it as a big accomplishment. The journey of a thousand miles starts with one letter...or something like that...

Congratulations, now you just have to wait around 5-7 years more!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Congrats, Aristocat! It's worth the wait, IMO.

So here's a question: Last Wednesday, I was riding Pirates at about 11:00 am or so, and I looked up to the second story of the Blue Bayou just after we shoved off and someone had left some doors open. I would have sworn I was looking at part of Club 33. Is this true? Was I looking at Club 33 from POTC? Are there doors from upstairs in Club 33 where you could look out over Pirates? I've been up there twice, but have no recollection of doors on that side. Would they be by the elevator?

                        Melmel?

                        Anyone?

I believe that the doors that you see, from your boat, on the top "Porch" of Blue Bayou actually do open up to Club 33. I'm not 100% on this, but that is my understanding.

That would be correct, that door leads right into Club 33. Actually there have been times while riding POTC where I've seen Club 33 CM's walking across the second story of Blue Bayou.

                                Consider yourself 100% sure now.

That door does lead to/from the Club. If you've been up to the Club, you might recall the Maitre`di's desk as you exit the lift upstairs. Just behind that desk is a door. That door leads to the "Sound Room" which was where the Audio Animatronic show of the Trophy Room was to be controlled from. It's now a small office and the "back door" to that small space is the door on the balcony of the Blue Bayou.

On Private Party nights (or special super large Members Only events) at the Club when someone has reserved the entire Club and has more guests than the Club can handle...the Blue Bayou is closed to the public and the BB becomes sort of a temporary extension of Club 33. A typical set-up on such an event would be for hors d'vores' and cocktails to be served up in Club 33 as a "standing service"...and then for the main dinner portion of the evening...Members and/or guests would be directed through that door, and across the balcony to the wood staircase that leads down directly to the Blue Bayou dining area. That whole set-up was specifically designed with this temporary "expansion" of Club 33 in mind (and also serves as a fire escape).

On that same balcony at the other end (where the wood staircase is that goes up to it), you'll see another door. That's a "side door" to the Club's kitchen. If you're dining at the Blue Bayou and keep your eye on that balcony...you'll often see a Club chef or two coming out of one door and walking across the length of the balcony to the other door. What they are doing is making an end-run around the Trophy Room...so as to reduce traffic in that room (the Trophy Room is between the Club's main kitchen and the rest of the Club). As you are looking from the Blue Bayou up to the balcony of the Plantation House...the Sound Room door is the one on the left side of the balcony, and the kitchen door is the one on the right.

To the OP: Congrats on the confirmation!

I've already told the Hubster that we are having my 38th birthday at the Club.

But if I'm lucky, I'll be able to have my 37th there, too.

I saw the door open one time for Club 33. I was going to act like a lost tourist but thought otherwise because I didn't want to get in trouble.
