  • Rainforest Cafe or Blue Bayou?

    Need advice from you guys

I want to go to a nice restaraunt at the resort for my birthday. I've been to the Blue Bayou plenty of times, but I have yet to eat off of the entree menu at the restaraunt since the refurb (I had the cookie boat and loved it...and had my mouth water at seeing the dishes being served to other guests).

I've never been to Rainforest Cafe, which looks like a ton of fun (and I'm a sucker for lava cake). I've read the menu, and it sounds good...but I'd like to hear some reviews before I decide anything. I'd also like to know how the prices compare to Blue Bayou.

    Please help! Thanks!

Thats a hard choice! I guess I would say whichever you can get the best seating at, or whichever type of food you like best.

I've always felt Rainforest Cafe is my casual friend hang out place to eat.
Blue Bayou is my 'fancy occassion' place to eat, but thats just me.

The last time I went to the Blue Bayou , I couldn't help but feel that the place is overrated and overpriced for what you get, especially since our table was at the back of the restaurant whereit's pretty bright.

The Rainforest Cafe IS a lot of fun and has a really wide variety of foods to choose from on the menu. It's also a lot cheaper than the Blue Bayou. The lobster and crab dip with tortilla chips is excellent and if you order a shot of tequila and a beer to go with it, the waitperson will do something funny....I 'm not going to tell you what because I don't want to ruin the surprise!

        I was there last year.

this is how I would rate it

        ambience 9 out of 10
        food 5 out of 10
        service 3 out of 10
you pay for the ambience, you end up getting very average food and slow service. prices were on the high side, sorry but I can remember how much it cost, but when my wife and I left i felt like I had spent way to much. when leaving the BB I felt it was money well spent.

rainforest cafe has an awsome theme with thunderstorms every half hour, and Blue Bayou is a more fancy theme, I would recomend Rainforest Cafe only because it is a nice place to relax and it feels as if you were really in a forest, they have lush grennery, waterfalls, and animals that move around... along with a nice gift shop with rain falling from the ceilings. Again I would recomend RFC, but it is your choice... Have Fun!

IMHO, Rainforest Cafe is a total trainwreck. The food sucks, the service is a disaster and the ambiance is annoying. I HIGHLY reccomend eating somewhere else. I'm not sure your demographic, but if you're in high school you may find it fun, but otherwise you may look elsewhere. What about a Mom and Pop place, non-corporate. Your money will often go farther and they will work harder to please you.

I have been at Rainforest once, and that was more then enough. I can appreciate what they are trying to do, with the fake trees, fake rain, fake lightening, fake animals....ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but it just misses the mark.

Maybe ask around and see what other options there are from our CA peeps.

            Best of luck!

I love the rain forest, but with my ADHD i was like woa ))))) but I would choose the rai forest over the blue any day. I love the place and I loved the fish and chips. I am going there again in 11 days!! I can not wait!

I happen to like the Blue Bayou and frequent the restaurant. I always request a table by the water and am never disappointed. In fact, I ate there on Sunday, September 24th and ordered the Prime Rib and it was great! I also liked the salad they serve before the entree. I always have great service and the waiters are always accommodating. The price you pay is worth the service, food and ambience. I heard the crab legs are awesome and will try those next time!

Princess Buttercup, I'm sorry you feel that way. Perhaps you should request a table by the water next time.

How about STORYTELLERS in the Grand Californian. GREAT food, reasonable prices, and usually outstanding service.

rainforest! it's cheaper although it is just as difficult to get into. also, the atmosphere is awesome. the only way i can describe it is to say that it is kinda like you never left adventureland. i love going there!

I think that the Blue Bayou is over priced but I also think it is part of the Disneyland experience. So I am willing to pay their prices and like it ) . I have gotten food poisoning from RainForest so naturally would not recommend it.

Go to Ralph Brennans over Rainforest if you wanna go someplace in DTD. Nice jazz music, good food, great service.

I'd recommend Rainforest Cafe. I have a Safari Card there and it gets me a table in less than 30 minutes on the busiest of nights. The food is good and affordable, and although the ambiance isn't for everyone (as you can tell by a response), I haven't met anyone who didn't like it there.

And as for the shot of tequila and a beer thing, I'm gonna have to try that:yea:

I'd go for Blue Bayou if you are going the fancy route. If you just want to hang out, go for Rainforest.

Seriously, Story Teller! Does anybody else recommend this restaurant. It's alot fancier and classier than Rainforest!

I do, I love that place. Kind of weird on how you get there from DTD though, at least the route I take.

Rainforest Cafe hands down. Though the Blue Bayou atmosphere is fun, so is Rainforest and is a much better value.

I didn't get around to eating at the Blue Bayou, but I can offer a brief (humble) opinion on the Rainforest.

I did enjoy the dining there, especially the desert, and the 'thunderstorms' were a nice touch (although, granted, they could get annoying after a while). However, I get the feeling that this restaurant would be more at home in Adventureland. Is this the case in other parks, such as WDW?

Blue Bayou tastes better but the rainforest is BEAUTIFUL. And they do have good lava cake. I do however prefer the deep fried cheesecake. It's amazing
