Well friends I went to the park yesterday for a couple of hours and I went on Splash mountain like I always do and guess what was back!?........ The screen that is by the owl at the end plus there was a new light shining on him so maybe soon they will start to show the pics there again!I did not have my camera with me so i will take a pic when i go on friday and i will post it here. I just think its cool that something that has not worked for years might be coming back! What do you guys think?

They have done sooooooooooooo many refurbishments.....and neglected that so many times. Bad show. I think they should just leave the owl talking to guests and remove the screen if they aren't going to fix it. -

they did have the screen down for months and now it is back.... and it is very clean I might add.The earth is round.... or so i've found.Comment

Well, I hope they are going to put it back in, because that was nice on busy days to be able to look at your picture a little while you are waiting for logs to unload. And if they took the time to pull it out and clean it, sounds like it's coming back.

what's really amusing about this is my boyfriend and i were just talking about that owl and the screen. we went on the ride on sunday and i said "i remember when you used to see your photo right there." and then we had a good chuckle.
how bizarre. i think it would be really neat if they brought it back. it was always fun laughing, and seeing your pic alone - as opposed to on 6 different screens trying to find your picture.

I go on SPlash as much as I can and over the last few months they have indeed been working on different scenes. I always notice when an AA has been taken out and usually within two to four weeks it is back. They replaced the laughing rabbit(right before you go down the hill with Brer Bear's butt in your face) just a couple of months ago. Also new lighting has been added and replaced and enhanced in certain areas of the ride over the entire summer. So maybe I ride Splash too much, but i do notice things!

Now was the owl actually talking? Is it the same audio as last time?
(It used to go something like, "whoo, whoo, how d'you do? Here's a picture of you a-whoopin' and a-hollerin' and having a good ol' time, whoo-who-who!")
Do the pictures line up correctly? They didn't used to, and I'm guessing that's why the idea was abandoned for so long.

The pictures lined up correctly! As for the Owl audio I believe it is the speaking the text that you have quoted although I cannot be 100% I was too busy looking at the picture!Comment

Finally.
I kept emailing Disneyland about that owl, and they kept telling me to keep checking with them, as they were Imagineering the area...took them a while, but it got done. Awesome
