  • Disney Claim Adjusters?

So, Hubster and I just spent a loverly day at the Resort...and while standing in line, he wondered (not for the first time) whether Disneyland had their own bodily injury insurance and therefore, insurance employees.
    Does anyone know?
If they do, does anyone know where the employees are based from? Anaheim? Burbank? Glendale? Or regions afar?

It doesn't seem to be a very big risk to Disney, relative to the revenue and net profit.
I don't think they purchase insurance on this, except possibly second dollar insurance, after $1 million per incidence, for example. I.e., Disney absorbs the losses for amounts below $1 million and some other entity (Lloyd's of London, for example), pays amounts above $1 million (minus the first $1 million).

If they paid for it all themselves, then they wouldn't likey have any insurance adjusters.
They don't likely reserve for future incidences.

My boyfriend, who works in insurance, know for sure that Disney is self-insured. LOL! I think he's happy that we could put Disney and Insurance in the same sentence!
Took mom to Disneyland for the first time in over 20 years this week! Woo!

Acually, they probably do have internal equivilant to adjusters, in the litigation department. So, when someone trips and falls, the adjusters determine fault, make offers and try to settle things quickly. They probably have secondary insurance for instances like the BTMRR accident.

Hubster is in insurance and would be tickled (he would probably not use that word) to work for Disney. I was thinking that they probably take care of their own minor claims, like slip and falls. And I can only imagine how many of those they get in a week.
Hmmm, so no Disney claims handlers cruise the Micechat boards? What a shame.

They do, and they work in the offices behind Toontown. And they're a LOT busier than most people think. There are injuries and even worse that never make the news. I can't say how I know this, but I heard it directly from the employee who is in charge of the settlements.

Do you happen to know if openings come up regularly? And if they are posted on the Disney Careers site? I just took a look and there were only listings for workers comp adjusters.

I would think that would be the place to look. I have seen the oddest jobs show up there, never even thinking to link the job listed with a Disney position.

As someone that's worked with Disneyland Claims... yes, they are most definitely self insured, and they do hire their own employees, and yes, there are likely many more claims filed than just the "big ones" that hit the press.

I will just have to add Disney Careers to my 'Favorites' and keep an eye out for the Hubster.
Oh! To have a family member work at the Resort! I would be in raptures!
Not that I don't love the Hubster already, but...
