05/05: I'm at Disneyland!!~Updates Here!!~

Hey everybody! I'm currently jusy passed the security check line at the esplanade. They're just started to let people through, the line to get into the esplanade stretched all the way from the security tents past the other end of World of Disney.

I'm using my phone (a Sidekick) to update you all and I will be trying to update this thread throughout the day for all of you who aren't here. Sorry that I can't post photos from this thing, but I will add those tomorrow.

I just walked up to one of the gates to the park and the new floral at the entrance is absolutely fantastic. I will keep you all posted.

I hope the rain holds off for y'all - but GMA just said something about "possible record setting rains in L.A.". All that planning and they didn't make sure the Weather was going to co-operate??

I'll hijack real quick...just talked to Disguy and he said it's PACKED!! Lines stretched to DCA by 730!

Just talked to Mamabot! She said while they were waiting to get in Ickner came out with Mickey, minnie, goofy and a TON of other characters to count down opening the gates, she said it was really cool and now they are all packed in like sardines waiting for rope drop. She's promised multiple updates also and Disguy has promised to send me a picture of the crowns on the castle as soon as gets closer! Oh and Mamabot said the crowns "do not look gaudy at all!" (that's a direct mamabot quote)

I know, it's been over an hour and no photos.... this kind of waiting can drive a kid crazy.

My sister called me just before they opened the gates (8:30 PST), she's been waiting since 4:00 am and so were many others.
Coincidentally, my sister-in-law just called me (9:00 am) and said that she was just arriving and that traffic to the structure is backed up to I-5. It's a thursday morning with school in session and people at work, and it's already packed. I guess those of us planning on going on the 17th of July will be spending the night in our cars the night before (ahh, all night at the parking structure, haven't done that since I worked there ).

I'm sitting on the jungle cruise GOLD boat right now, leaving the docks. Media announcement/castle dedication at 10 a.m., crowds are enormous! Main street was packed... I have lots of pictures, I will post tomorrow.

Yeah, and that's the last of Disneyland I experienced... in the rain! Oooh... Nice first photo from Disguy, thank you to both of you. Thanks for the update from everyone so far. I guess this is as good as time as any to break out into song...
