  • STAR WARS in Disneyland?

I might step on toes here, but here it goes:

Now, I love STAR WARS and all of the various sagas that go with it. Shoot, in 1977 and 1978, I saw STAR WARS 17 in the theatres - I begged my Dad to see it over and over. Last time I saw it with my Dad and two friends at the Fox Theatre in Fullerton. My point being - I love the movies.

My question, however is : "Does Star Wars 'stuff' really belong in Disneyland?"

Why not? You could say the same thing about Indiana Jones right?

It's been there for more than a quarter of the life of the park. Such reasoning is really a little late at this point, don't you think?

Good point! Does Indiana Jones belong there either?

No, not really - I mean, look what they've done to Tomorrowland - they pretty much obliterated a whole LAND that had been there since 1955 - and now they are trying to put it back together again.

            Yes.

Ya I totally feel what your saying, Like does Rodger Rabbit belong there? Or Indiana Jones? But you know I think that disney does such a good job with making it their own, it just has that "Disney Feeling" to it.

                I guess that's a good point.

I just feel that if it doesn't have a 'Disney tie' it doesn't belong - you know?

It was George's idea, I believe. So yeah, I think it belongs in Disneyland.

                  Same with Indy.

Roger Rabbit and Nightmare Before Christmas are Touchstone movies which is owned by Disney so they definitely belong in Disneyland.

Ha ha ha ...so George says it belongs in Disneyland, so it does? I have a friend who believes the same thing.

Well with ToT, Disney has a contract with CBS for something like 30 years so they can use the Twilight Zone theme.

Wowza. At least they're good movies with a huge following. I don't want to see a Treasure Planet attraction at Disneyland just because it's a Disney movie.

I still haven't seen that movie. Is it really that bad? lol.
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

Well, it's cool. I mean, it was just a topic to discuss. I saw Treasure Planet - thought it was a 'fun' movie, but an attraction might not be a good idea - agreed.

Does Star Wars belong in Disneyland? Sure. Why not. Too late to turn back now... We're caught in some sort of tractor beam...

I don't think there is a place that Star Wars doesn't belong. In my teen years Star Wars was what I looked forward to in Disneyland.
