Where would I find these fritters?
They are still tasty, but they used to be way bigger and just one instead of three.

Originally posted by mcow1 View PostNo fruit, they were just plain sugared fritters. When they were made well they were great. However, sometimes the fat they were fried in was not hot enough and they were really greasy and nasty. But, when they were right, yes, they were better than the ones now.

I was told, that the chief cook owned the large scoop to make the large fritters; and when he left, he took it with him. Sounds like BS to me...there was only ONE scoop? How was it his personal property? A firm as large as Disney can't find large scoops? I'm not buying it.
I miss the old 'cannonball' fritters...and the original mint julips."They's two B's in basketball!"

Yes! Back in the 80s, my friend and I couldn't properly start our Day without first getting one of those JUMBO fritters, and enjoying them in the Court of Angels before blasting off with all that sugary goodness for the next 17 hours!

Re: FRITTERS: Then & Now
Ok... I tried these fritters last week for the very first time and I'm a fan of any fried dough! haha BUT I almost threw up when I bit into this one!! Worst thing I have ever put in my mouth at DL and that includes my fingers after rubbing them all over the hand railings or the hand grip on GRR (at DCA)!! :yuck:
Yes, they were fried nicely and it made it look apealing, but they were the worst tasting, eggy smelling thing ever! They served it with a little cup of "fruit dipping sauce" which I couldn't figure out what it was made of. It looked like a cup of gel like butter.
I DON'T RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! I would be open to trying the "old" ones though!I'm addicted and I don't care!!! :yea:
