Haunted Mansion Radioplay from 1969

I recently came across this interesting piece of media. I'm not sure when exactly it's from, but I'd assume it's early promotional material for Haunted Mansion given it mentions the Hatbox Ghost. It's kind of an interesting take to try to give the mansion a cohesive story even in it's early days, although the Ghost Host isn't as scary as we've come to know him. In this radioplay he just seems to be kind of lonely.

It does offer us a few nice tidbits. The Ghost Host is actually the previous mansion's owner and the Hatbox Ghost is The Bride's husband. I know the storyline has been warped and shifted with the refurb and such over the years, but I still find it interesting to see what it was supposed to be in it's early days.

Here's some more info I was able to pull on it.

The name of it is "The Story and Song from The Haunted Mansion" and it stars Ron Howard as the male lead and Thurl Ravenscroft as the Ghost Host.

That should be interesting. I'll check it out when I get home. Odd as it sounds I have a much faster connection at home than at work.

Also, I think that Patrick Hurd talked about this on the Window to the Magic podcast. He did a show on the haunted mansion and I think this might be the HM record he said that Disney sold before the attraction opened. I could be completly wrong. I'll have to go back and see if I still have the podcast and compare.

That was cool, obviously one of the voices was Ron Howard before Happy Days and American Graffitti.

Now that I have listened to it I believe that Thurl Ravenscroft is the narrator and Peter Renaday is the ghost host on this recording. It is the LP that was released in 1969 just before the mansion opened. I have never heard it all the way through.
